This book = insanity; insanity = good. This book is not for everyone, but if you have a penchant for the twisted and bizarre, give this book a taste. Over-the-top monstrosities abound to frighten and entertain.
Interesting premise, but I wasn't sure if it could carry an entire book; I'm pleased to say it did. Josh Malerman did a great job creating a creepy 'fear of the unknown' vibe, as well as portraying the stress of the horrors and situation the characters experienced.
Stumbled upon this book by pure chance, and it ended up being the best book I've read in years. Being a mostly character driven story, each was developed superbly and had their own unique voice, rather than an author simply writing dialog and descriptions. It's a dark story, but not offensive.
