Normal People | Sally Rooney

I was about halfway in the book before I got a late night tiktok showing the BBC miniseries and had to hurry and finish before it got spoiled! I‘m behind on the times for the mini series, but I‘m glad this BookTok recommendation landed on my page before I saw the show. I really enjoyed the time jumps in this book. I felt that the representation of young love, “right person wrong time”, was shown well through Rooney‘s writing. Excellent romance!

dom._.inic There's a miniseries? 😲

I want to watch it but the book was already so heartbreaking...

Excellent book I found recommended on Tik Tok. First memoir I‘ve read in a while. Won‘t say much more than I would recommend anyone read no matter how you identify your romantic life!

Took me a while to go through this one because I felt it was a slow start and life was busy. But once I got to the half way point it started to pick up. Lots of suspects so I felt it was a lot of twists. Looking forward to reading more by this author!

I was able to figure out how everything was going to end early on, but I kept trying to finish it. It felt really repetitive to me and then the ending was unfortunately the ending I expected 1/4 into the book. Says it‘ll be a Netflix show but don‘t see how it‘ll work out. Was disappointed because I liked Local Woman Missing a lot

Another Riley Sager, another pick for me! I always find his books to keep me on my toes and to be easy reads. I felt that this one was one of my favorites of his. Little paranormal, little family trauma, lots to keep it interesting.

5feet.of.fury This one was my favorite of his! So good! 2y

I think I‘m getting into a thriller rut where I keep picking books with unreliable female narrators, so I wasn‘t really feeling this book at first, however, it really turned around for me and had a “paranormal”-ish aspect that I enjoy being added to thrillers. This is her debut novel and I‘m excited to see more from her. 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Atheall Comment below if you have suggestions on unreliable male narrators, would be refreshing to read a thriller where a woman does the gaslighting 😅 2y
5feet.of.fury There‘s not a lot as far as domestic thrillers that I could think of but possibly partly 2y

Incredible read, worth the 7 week waiting period from the public library. There is something about games, whether they are video or board, that makes companionship even more sweeter. This book explores why video games are so addictive for some people who are looking to escape the real world for a world that is more gentle and allows for constant redos without consequence. 5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Atheall Let me also add that it was a pick for me BECAUSE of the video game lingo, which is what I see a lot of people not like in negative reviews. If you play games, even if it was arcade, and you live relationships, romantic and platonic, you will probably enjoy this! 2y

Easy and fun read and I really enjoyed how it was set up with a glimpse into what the main characters boyfriend was dealing with at the end of each chapter. It wasn‘t the most exciting thriller but I would read more from the author! Solid choice for a cozy Sunday. Was between giving it a so-so and a pick!

I'm Glad My Mom Died | Jennette McCurdy

Listened to the audio since it was read by the author. Very glad I did! I‘m not usually one to go for nonfiction books but glad to have given this a try. McCurdy did a great job telling her story and although her struggles with her mom are not something I can relate to, I felt as though it allowed me into the world of those who struggle from abuse from an early age.

It was split into three parts and part two had me rolling my eyes just because there were times that I thought “why haven‘t you thought of this simple explanation or question” then found myself thinking of people who may not know anything about American college football (relevant to the story 😂) I felt that it was being drawn out and could have skipped about 100 pages of the 300. Will read more from author to give another try.

Picked up this book because I‘m a fan of the Netflix series by Mike Flanagan. Less horror and more terror feel for this book and that made it feel more immersive for me. I felt as if I were going through changes with Eleanor and her psyche throughout the book. 3.5/5 ⭐️

Read in one sitting! I waited weeks for this from my local library, worth every second of that wait. I enjoyed the book set up to go from the past to the present and the three narrators. I thought I had it figured out but didn‘t! First read by author, will read more! *POSSIBLE SPOILER* I wouldn‘t recommend if you are triggered by difficult birthing experiences, miscarriages, or bad OBGYN appointments. I felt some chapters were very graphic.

LoverOfLearning Agreed. They just were not necessary to the plot. It did not need to he added. I have no triggers like that and it was very difficult for me to read. 2y

The author leads you to suspect multiple characters throughout which made it very exciting. Highly recommend and would read again to see if I can pick out some more key features on a second read!
