pickI love Torben Kuhlmann's alternative history books. The best part is his breathtaking illustrations. I feel like I could walk right into them.
At first I was confused about what Thomas Edison had to do with oceanography. But unlike Kuhlmann's other books, the main character does not parallel the famous human namesake. Instead this book features a young mouse named Pete who is searching for his ancestor's lost treasure.
We Don't Eat Our Classmates is a wonderful book filled with funny little moments. Penelope Rex must deal with the aftermath of temporarily eating her classmates on the first day at her new school. When she tells her dad she had a bad day, he immediately knows she ate the kids. Which makes me wonder: why didn't he warn her that her classmates were children and instruct her not to eat them???
