Omg I love this book! Definitely one of my new favourites! The overall accuracy of the writing allowed me to be transported into the era. The best thing about this book is although you have a focus on the two protagonists, you learn and connect with the surrounding characters. This book tangles you into the perfect plot, a romance masterpiece!

This book was a very interesting, many twists and turns, a cleverly plotted out story. My only concern with this book was that Celaena is continually combating giving off a strong outer appearance and fighting her inner monologue. I found her to be a little self obsessed with others perceptions of her and although this is perfectly fine in a character, her constant continuation of it was a little dragging. I will be continuing with the next one.

Although not you traditional romance, this novel was one that kept me hooked. For those of you interested in reading this, be sure to read the prequel from the "On The Prowl" bundle. It can be read without, it just gives you a better understanding of what happened and who was the true villain towards Anna. I'm interested in seeing her heal even more and become more trusting of the characters around her.

This book was so well written. The legends so cleverly intertwined. Although it can be confusing at times this book is well laid out and the perfect pick for any lovers of Fae legends or even Game of Thrones.

Overall a good read. Better than the first one in terms of pacing.

A Dog's Purpose | W. Bruce Cameron

An excellent novel! I am not normally one who likes to read these dog stories, I always get so depressed when the puppy passes in the end. However this is not the case in this exciting journey. A dog lives many lives and through this discovers the purpose of his life with many people. He uses the different things learned in each life to tackle ongoing challenges he faces. Overall heartwarming, this story leaves you satisfied in the end.

If you have read the first book shadow kin, you will find this novel very repetitive. Same pacing, additional characters, slightly different plot line. However I will say I enjoyed this book more than the first. I found Holly to be a lot more confident and easier to relate to than Lily. If M. J. Scott keeps following this trend, I may have to read the third novel. The most interesting part is we finally get to delve deeper into the fairy realm.

Although this book was an interesting read, I found it lacking in a few places. The overall pace was manageable, however much slower than 'Red Queen'. I also found it very repetitive, and found my excitement for Cal and Mare's relationship lacking. What started out fiery and passionate has turned into a dull ember. I didn't find myself speeding through till the last chapters. Still excited for her final novel though!

Overall this book was well written. M.J. Scott is a talented author. My only issue with this novel was I found it fast to start, slow in the middle and fast to end. I found lily to be a very strong female character, however as her relationship with Simon grew, I found her constantly fighting to not lose her independence. This was a great factor to the novel, however I felt that aspect too repetitive. Overall a fun summer read for fantasy lovers.

Red Queen | Victoria Aveyard

Red queen was a wonderfully written novel. Victoria Aveyard finds the right balance between description and pace. She allows the reader the chance to make their own decisions about Mare Barrow, presenting her strengths and flaws at an even pace. Her inner battle and decision process in one of the key factors that I loved about this novel. A truly relatable character and a wonderfully, thrilling tale. Excellent for hunger games lovers.

MrBook Just bought this! 😊👍🏻 8y
