The Book of Lost Names is a beautifully written tribute to quiet heroism. It is a story about the courage to defy, the strength to remember, and the quiet rebellion of a woman with a pen. Eva found a way to remember as well as save displaced children

There are so many historical fiction books out there focusing on Germany during WWII, that I found it a refreshing (for lack of a better word) change to have a novel shine light on Asia (specifically Malaya) during this time &highlight the lives effected &tragedies that occurred there.

There are serious topics &it‘s at times a difficult read, but I appreciated how the author approached each topic &how informative this historical fiction book was.

GatheringBooks Awesome! I wonder if the novel mentioned Singapore - as they used to be one country. :) 3d
Kristy_K @GatheringBooks It didn‘t but when I was looking up some of the history from the book, I saw that and I never knew they used to be one country. So much they don‘t teach us in history. 3d

My first Kate Quinn and it was alright. The history is compelling but I was underwhelmed by the writing. 🤷🏻‍♀️

“Snipers must make themselves calm in order to succeed, and that is why women are good at sharpshooting. Because there is not a woman alive who has not learned how to eat rage in order to appear calm.”

A favorite HF from Quinn! I like both covers❄️

Reading Madeline's book, I've learned just how important it is to not let education be "stifled or cultures to be erased or books to banned" I could not have come up with better words to share the importance of preserving stories and history, learning from them, and providing access to those in times of war or crisis to the stories that they need to help them survive.

Amazing! I absolutely loved this book. This is the second book I have read by Madeline and both were amazing. I cannot wait to read more of her work. I will be adding Madeline to my list of favorite authors for sure.

The blurb explains it well. Based on letters between Micheal‘s father living in London and his cousin in Poland. A good read together book for 8 + I would think. I loved it. Great illustrations too.
