Beginning in 1939, young Solly in London exchanges letters with his teenaged cousin, Bernie, in Poland. While Solly is evacuated and adjusts to life in the English countryside, Bernie flees Warsaw, is sent to a Russian labour camp, and then joins the 'Anders Army' and fight the Axis powers. A powerful story of the endurance of family bonds.
Another book I have read for work, and it is so very moving. It‘s not a long book, and is written as letters between Soly, a boy in London, Bernie his older cousin in Poland through WW2. One for every school library.
