Pickpick

Delightful as a good cup of Chai. Window into a world I know nothing about: Canada's Muslim Community. Fun story yet also tackles issues of stereotyping. Particularly loved Ayesha & Clara's friendship. Two very different women, yet they are friends, who look out for one another & are always there for each other. I think Jane Austen would approve. 💖💕

Jane Eyre | Charlotte Bront

I firmly believe that, had she been around, our Jane would have read and enjoyed Jane Eyre. Despite the fact that Charlotte Brontë apparently didn‘t appreciate Jane Austen‘s novels...

I try not to hold that against Charlotte because Jane Eyre is awesome. ?

Crinoline_Laphroaig I too try not to hold it against Charlotte. Although to quote Lucy Worsley - "She concludes her demolition job with ‘these observations will probably irritate‘. Yes, Charlotte Brontë, they do irritate, as you could hardly have written Jane Eyre unless Jane Austen had previously constructed something worthy of demolition." 5y
sprainedbrain @Crinoline_Laphroaig it almost seems like Charlotte was being petty with her comments... I don‘t think Jane would have been that way if the situation were reversed. 😊 5y

#austeninaugust2019 #whatwouldjaneread @Crinoline_Laphroaig I think Jane definitely read this gothic romance as research for her novel Northanger Abbey. And perhaps she was scandalized - but I like to think she was more fun than that.

Crinoline_Laphroaig I've never read Mysteries of A. I need too. 5y
CrowCAH I‘ve read this book; it‘s amazing, definitely gives a moody vibe. 5y

Happy New Release Tuesday! I'm sure that Ms. Austen would adore Percy and the Custard Protocol. I've declared a Book Holiday. Kindle/Audible ready. I do beg your pardon I must read. 🤓
