Review of Special Edition.

Gorgeous! From the embossed cover to illustrations inside the cover a delight to look at. 25 pages of new content. Definitely earns a spot on my #ForeverShelf.

As for that extra Chapter from Henry's POV - Fandom was gracious enough not to spoil before I had a chance to read so I will extend the same No Spoilers Courtesy. Let's just say it made my heart happy. It's truly a gift. ❤🇺🇸👬🇬🇧💙

Yes it's September but the last from my #AusteninAugust 2022. But I'm a #PemberLittens so it's all appropriate to be ready Austenesque.

Read it ages ago. After looking at Goodreads Reviews I vaguely remember it. Want to see if it's still worthy to be on my #ForeverShelf.

CaramelLunacy I would be interested to know if it holds up - I think this was one that didn't really work for me when I read it ages ago (but I'm such a mood reader it may have just caught me at the wrong moment) 2y
Crinoline_Laphroaig @CaramelLunacy will let you know! 2y

#Pemberlittens - This one was at the Top of my #AusteninAugust stack. Mostly enjoyable read, especially for Janeites, but didn't earn a spot on my All Things Austen #ForeverShelf.

Things I liked:
Loved the cover.
House Party Murder Mystery featuring favorite Austen characters.
Emma being Emma: "To murder someone in another person‘s house!” Emma threw up her hands. “It is the height of rudeness! Can you imagine?” ⬇️

Crinoline_Laphroaig Elizabeth and her sister Mary are now friends.

Catherine Tilney is an author. Her grown daughter Juliet and Elizabeth Darcy's son Jonathan team up to solve the murder.

The Darcy‘s as parents of a grown son. Elizabeth to Darcy: "Did you never teach him how you escaped the many snares of Caroline Bingley?” ⬇️

2y
Crinoline_Laphroaig Jonathan is written as Neurodivergent. While he doesn't understand reasons for the Rules of Society, he uses them to navigate the world when unsure.

I'd never given any thought to what would happen with Lydia and Wickham having a child. Especially since neither one is parent material. Interesting to see that explored.

I can totally see Edmund Bertram turning into a sanctimonious prig.⬇️
2y
Crinoline_Laphroaig Things I Didn't Like:
Elizabeth and Darcy being estranged. While it served a purpose in the story and didn't last, I don't want a world where they're not happy. ⬇️

Crinoline_Laphroaig My BIGGEST COMPLAINT is Minor Spoiler so I'll hide it below.⬇️ 2y
Crinoline_Laphroaig The Letter. No one with an ounce of sense or self preservation would have written that letter. Top that off with the family member who received it, kept it, and storyline of I will do anything to protect them. When all they had to do was burn the letter in the first place. So everytime The Letter came into play it had me shaking my head. 2y
Crinoline_Laphroaig Once I figured out who Killed Mr. Wickham, I knew how story would end.⬇️

2y
Crinoline_Laphroaig Would love to see Juliet Tilney and Jonathan Darcy married and solving crimes as a couple.

I have now read all 3 of the Bronte's novels. Wildfell Hall edges out Jane Eyre as the one I liked best. Simply because there wasn't a crazy woman in the attic. #WanderingThroughWutheringHeights is definitely the worst IMHO.

None of these will be going on my #forevershelf. Took 📸 at B & N and then put them back on shelf and bought 3 other books.

DivineDiana They are beautiful though! ❤️ 2y
BarkingMadRead Love it! 2y
sprainedbrain I really like Wildfell Hall as well, but Jane is still my favorite by an edge. I know I‘m probably toxic af but I still ❤️ Rochester. Right there with you on WH, though. 😂 2y

I love revisiting 'what Jane calls “the gaieties” of the Christmas season two hundred years ago.' This one goes back on my #forevershelf. Later this month I'll be rereading #janeandthewaterloomap in anticipation of Feb 8th Release of #janeandtheyearwithoutasummer.

CaramelLunacy I have only read the first few, but these are so much fun. I must pick back up again. 3y
DivineDiana Now that I finished this one, I need a copy for my forever shelf! ❤️ 3y
Crinoline_Laphroaig @CaramelLunacy that was me. I jumped around and then finally read them all #JaneandtheYear2020 and this one I've read 3 times now. 3y

Mehso-so

#HolidayReads Print Stack. I'd really like to finish all these and then will decide what to keep and what donate to my friends or Library. Need to make some space for the new year. I think I can fit 4 more in during the #12daysofbookmas.

As for tagged book - Didn't like friend to love interest Matt. I really wanted Lumberjack Beard from Date 4 to be the HEA. Definitely not a #forevershelf read

ravenlee I really disliked Matt. And I felt really cheated, because what was the whole point of the twelve dates gimmick if it was just going to be the friend?! 3y
Crinoline_Laphroaig @ravenlee and now I‘m hoping I'm not really disappointed that I bought her newest book 3y
ravenlee Well…her characters were vivid, and there were some generally funny moments…so as long as the MC doesn‘t miraculously end up back with her ex, maybe there‘s a chance for the new one? 🤞🏻 3y

Winter Solstice | Rosamunde Pilcher
post image

Lights in the glasshouse look particularly festive on long winter nights.

Winter Solstice by Rosamunde Pilcher from my #forevershelf seems appropriate this evening. Story actually starts in the fall with Winter Solstice beginning on page 318. Even if I don't reread every year I often revist the Holiday ending.

#rosamundepilcherforeveryseason.

Happy Winter Solstice!

Listened to Sam & Graham read Clanlands Almanac and it was delightful. My print copy arrived a few days ago. It will be fun to revisit month by month. Plus it will be nice reference if I'm ever able to travel to Scotland again.

GingerAntics That‘s how I‘ll be reading this in 2022. Month by month. I‘m really looking forward to it, because Clanlands and Men in Kilts were SO great!!! 3y
GingerAntics @Crinoline_Laphroaig have you heard about season 2 or Men in Kilts? They‘re going to New Zealand!!! 3y
Crinoline_Laphroaig @GingerAntics no I hadn't heard. What fun! 3y
GingerAntics @Crinoline_Laphroaig apparently they‘re following the trailing of Scottish immigrants to NZ… or they just wanted to go on an epic NZ adventure. Either way. 🤷🏼‍♀️ 3y

Carry On | Rainbow Rowell

Playing catch-up and filling your feed with #simonsnow content. My Original copy of Carry On was pretty but I found out there was a Special Bookshelf Edition to match Wayward Son and Anyway the Wind Blows Cover Art. Had to have it. (It will be in my next post.) Love the Wayward Son and #AWTWB cover art. And I like covers to match on my #forevershelf. #booksandblooms #coverlove 🤓

Crinoline_Laphroaig I donated my original copy to my Library. Carry On was available on OverDrive but Library didn't have a Print Copy. 3y

Up next on my Collection Hunt is Carney's House Party. While Carney and Emily aren't officially Betsy Ray books, Betsy makes appearance in both. Because of that I shelve them in Chronological Order among Betsy Books.

I also think it's fitting that they are next to my Gail Carriger books because they were such a part of My Heroine‘s Journey. ❤
