Nightwork: A Novel | Nora Roberts

I borrowed the audiobook from Libby and thoroughly enjoyed it. Nora Roberts has a successful formula- talented male or female overcomes terrible childhood trauma , gets entangled with some villain, must change their identity, meets love of life , confesses all , mess cleaned up - HEA achieved: I am so there for it. One quibble , the fellow who reads the audiobook is not skilled at differentiating female voices . 👍👍🐉

This book had much more substance and a twisting plot. Both of these were welcome surprises!

A cat burglar hero with a heart of gold, an eidetic memory and a ruthless enemy. A writer heroine not sure if she can forgive him for a youthful betrayal. He cooks, he cleans, he steals jewels...what more could you want, really?
Don't make this your first Nora Roberts, but a fun example of her usual good people competently doing things and ending up happy. And so was I after reading it.

FashionableObserver I love Nora! Have you read her MacGregor series? I was obsessed back in college! 2y
CaramelLunacy @FashionableObserver No, I haven't read the MacGregors yet, but they're definitely on my list. My first Nora Roberts was Homeport - apparently the art crime-y ones are my catnip! 2y
FashionableObserver I haven‘t read Homeport! I‘ll add it to my list! Let me know when you start the MacGregors. That series so quintessential Nora Roberts. Absolutely delicious! 2y

I‘ve only read a few books by Nora Roberts but I really enjoy them. This one was no exception. I really liked it and it kept me reading wanting to know what happened next. I definitely plan to read more of her romantic suspense books.

He doesn't stay in one place too long and changes his name often. His life changes when he's introduced to a high powered collector who will not let Harry live in peace.

This book was cute and sad but I honestly think the relationship between the two main characters felt rushed

Roberts's latest book seemed to hit a different tone than many of her earlier stories. A much slower pace than most of her books, this one is more about Booth as a person than it is about romance or the thriller aspect of his being a thief. I actually did enjoy it because I liked Booth and also enjoyed a lot of the descriptions of places (this book made me want to visit New Orleans), but I can see why a lot of people didn't care for it. ⬇️

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) This story starts with Booth as a little boy, who feels like he has to steal to make ends meet as his single mother suffers from cancer. The book follows his life story as he grows to adulthood, frequently changing his name and cover story as he moves from place to place, thieving as he goes. Despite his career choice, there isn't a lot of action, and even the big final shebang feels a little flat heist-wise. I honestly wouldn't call ⬇ 2y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) this romantic suspense, because the suspense isn't super suspenseful, but I enjoyed this one nonetheless, even if it isn't my new favorite Roberts novel.

Librarybelle I have a copy of this…hoping to get to it soon! 2y
kimmypete1 I also liked this one, enjoyed the different feel that it has. 2y
TheAromaofBooks @Librarybelle @kimmypete1 - Once I got into the groove of this “just“ being a story about Booth's (admittedly intriguing) life, I really enjoyed it a lot. 2y
