#KissRiver #DianeChamberlain #BookSpinBingo

The arrival of Gina Higgins, a mysterious stranger who is determined to restore Kiss River‘s historic nineteenth-century lighthouse, profoundly impacts the lives of Lacey O‘Neill, a talented stained-glass artist with a dark past, and her brother Clay, who is trying to rebuild his life after a devastating tragedy. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the story about saving the fresnel light. Great book!

Bailedbailed

I‘ve enjoyed other Vreeland novels I‘ve read in the past. They‘re a bit slow-moving but she does a good job with historical fiction. But I just found that this one was dragging along TOO slowly and I really didn‘t like the character of Clara and found myself not looking forward to resuming the story. So, I bailed.
I didn‘t realize Vreeland had passed away in 2017.

I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it. Some will be old, some will be new - don't judge me, I have a lot of books.

Day 148th

Join the fun if you want!

Whiny, overly dramatic teenage girl as narrator? Nope. Was hoping for The Historian kind of book. YA is *not* my jam. Concept was good, execution was weak.

Here‘s my updated #BookSpinBingo! After bailing on The Lake Of Dreams, I finally got my second bingo. Currently reading Death Wears A Beauty Mask. 💗

Current #AwesomeAugust time is 35hours, thanks to my lack to sleep last night 🤣 @Andrew65

Bailedbailed

I only gave it an hour, but I have no interest in finishing it. The writing is beautiful, but I just can‘t seem to get into the story, or care about the characters. One more off my shelf for #BookSpinBingo, and #TheUnreadShelfProject.

This one did not work for me. It has a nice setting of a glass shop in Florida but sorry to say there‘re many things I find irritable. The dialogues read like forced scripts; characters fell flat; the hint of romance has so many faults; the portrayal of the police is tragically comic; but the biggest problem for me is the main character who doesn‘t come alive and I couldn‘t connect with her. What a bummer.

rwmg I also read the 2nd in the series. It didn't improve 4y
Librarybelle That‘s a shame! 4y
ferskner That sounds like such an interesting premise! That's too bad. 4y

Wow this book really surprised me. I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected. Strong female characters and a story with lots of heart. I highly recommend 👍

SO Good! Why did I wait so long?? Shows a mature woman grappling with the fate she‘s been dealt, including more than one loser, and coming to peace with different aspects of her character. Beautiful. Special balm for women of a certain age.
