I can‘t lie - I didn‘t get it. I started in print and ended in audio. Both formats were a miss for me, but the audio was slightly better.

A strange little novel about resisting dominant social structures through a female protagonist who decides to stop eating meat and gradually
"devolves" further until she eventually wastes away, wishing to return to the earth as a tree. Graphic, violent descriptions, visually evocative. But overall didn‘t land as powerfully for me, perhaps something to do with the translation or because it leans toward fantastical which I typically don‘t enjoy.
Interesting book of living a life vicariously after a sibling‘s death. This exploration of feelings & reflections is taken even further when adding thoughts/ideas only related to the color white. Loved it‘s uniqueness.
One of the earlier works of Han Kang, and I'm not sure if there's already an English translation. The German title can be translated as: Your Cold Hands
This story is filled with symbolism, at least to me it felt like that. And I'm glad I didn't read this book earlier in my life, because it deals with eating disorders and assaults. So trigger warnings for this. Kang shows us how superficial society can be and how that destroys us in many ways.
a short read to add to my reading goal…a must read for book lovers and coffee lovers #audiophile #readinggoal #readinglife
This was a murder mystery that wasn‘t so much a mystery but an exploration of the impact that an act of violence on those left behind and on the ways people cope (and don‘t cope). It covers guilt and trauma and lack of resolution. I really wanted this book to work more for me, but somehow it just didn‘t in ways I cannot even quite put my finger on.
A slow-paced, contemplative novel about life running a bookshop. We meet various characters and discover the roots of their hopes, wistfulness and melancholy.
More vibes than plot, this was nonetheless a cosy read.
A major theme was work and the way it can both drain or enrich a life.
A sweet, gently philosophical read that celebrates books and coffee.
#ReadTheWorld2025
Hi @GatheringBooks here‘s my first update on your challenge. In January and February I read 6 books set in countries and/or written by authors from all over the world. These countries are #Mexico, #Japan, #SouthKorea, #Netherlands, #FrenchPolynesia and #Chile. I hope to read at least six more in March and April!
Historic tale which I was naive about, therefore very interesting whilst retaining a personal element and so rich with female friendship and family bonds.
I loved the ways the divers supported each other. The female friendship reminded me of My Brilliant Friend, oddly.
Some of the content was incredibly harrowing and harsh reminder of war atrocities that continue today.
A pinch of delight
