Not book related. I'm just a giant 10 year old boy at heart.
Yeah_I_Read I made the mistake of reading Jaws when I was 12 right before my family went to visit my grandmother in Florida 😫I didn't get in the ocean once lol. My parents were so pissed at me 8y
MaleficentBookDragon @Yeah_I_Read I read it too early too. I loved going into our pool at night. I just stayed in the area that the spotlight hit. You know, because the imaginary 🦈 can't get you if you're in the lighted area of an above ground chlorinated pool. (edited) 8y
Yeah_I_Read @MaleficentBookDragon 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I was scared to go in the pool too! Omg you just validated so much of my childhood 😅 8y

Pandareads37 Want to read Jaws and see that movie. Just love sharks (I picked my university since they are sharks) been trying to get my parents to join me on my next cruise to swim with whale sharks in Cozumel Mexico 8y
PirateJenny You all know the Jaws was inspired by a true story right? 101 years ago this summer along the New Jersey coast, for 12 days there was a string of shark attacks. Three of them happened in a tidal creek. There are two books on the subject: Close to Shore and 12 Days of Terror. I found 12 Days to be much better. (The theory of a single rogue shark isn't true--there are letters in the Museum of Natural History disproving it. Due diligence author.) 8y
MaleficentBookDragon @PirateJenny I remember seeing something about that. Wasn't it bull sharks? 8y
PirateJenny @MaleficentBookDragon there's no way to tell for sure. But Mataram Creek is a tidal creek (I live practically across the street from it) so it easily could have been a great white in the creek. And undoubtedly in the other attacks because they're more common here than bulls. (Mary Lee is currently in the area) There is also at least one great white nursery in the area. GW is the current fave among experts. 8y
