This beautiful place is Grasmere, my home.
It's also the death and burial grounds of the wordsworth family.

Lord Byron added an additional stanza that he never published. Wonder why?
🤔🤣😉 Here's the (not-published) last stanza:

Then—fare thee well—Fanny—
Now doubly undone—
To prove false unto many—
As faithless to One—
Thou art past all recalling
Even would I recall—
For the woman once falling
Forever must fall.
[The poem was about Byron's failed affair with Lady Frances Webster.)

TheSpineView He should have published it.🤩😍👍 2y
dabbe @TheSpineView Maybe with her full name, too! If I remember right, she dumped him (a rare thing for the man who was “mad, bad, and dangerous to know!“) 🤣 2y

MayJasper I am not quite sure what he meant. Interesting quote 🙂 3y
TheSpineView @MayJasper I take it to mean that his definition of poetry is powerful emotions recalled and put into words. 3y
MayJasper Thank you @TheSpineView 😊 I was trying to decide if you can recall powerful emotions in tranquility or do you get like a shadow of them. 3y
TheSpineView @MayJasper I suspect it is different for everyone. 3y
MayJasper Yes I think you're correct 😊 3y

Bailedbailed

Oh dear, my first bail of the year and it‘s January‘s #bookspin title. I got as far as 122/663, and even though the subject matter is interesting to me (Romantic poets Keats, Shelley and Byron and the women who loved them...)
I just find it too slow. Perhaps I will set it aside and tackle it later. I feel too dumb for it now. @TheAromaofBooks

BookishMarginalia Some books we just pick up at the wrong moment, so moving on is the best option 🤷🏻‍♀️ 4y
TheAromaofBooks Yep, sometimes you just have to let one go. I did enjoy another of Morgan's books a great deal - it was fun & humorous, more fluffy than serious historical fiction. 4y
