Freedom was the name for the dizzying power that lasted through her library expeditions. No pleasantries ever needing to be exchanged with the librarian on duty. Even the round clock at high noon on the wood-panelled wall had no claim on her. From the first second she entered the building she was in other times, other dimensions. She was other Naoises.
Sometimes I listen to music that reflects my mood, and sometimes I listen to music to try to change my mood. I've been feeling anxious, so I've been finding comfort in this playlist I made for MisterInBlue last year when my health started turning around. I guess it's not surprising that songs that remind me of my safe person make me feel safe. 🩵🩵🩵

This was not it for my anxious mind. I think this would be better for someone in their early twenties or even teenagers who struggle with negative self image. I did like the takeaway the idea of: when your creative brain takes you on the familiar negative thoughts, start thinking of the good and create a neuro pathway that can be worn well to eventually overtake the negative thoughts. Practice makes perfect in our minds too.

May 18th #Bibliophile Red Cover I rook psychology in university but don't remember learning anything from this book. @Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks
Catching up on belated reviews (still)… I read this for my spiritual direction program back in March.
I don‘t have much of a background in psychology, so this was a great intro to the Jungian idea of the shadow: the aspects of ourselves, both good & bad, that we unconsciously hide or suppress. There‘s a lot packed into this slim volume, and I was surprised by—but appreciated—the connections Johnson makes to faith ⤵️
