The writing is excellent of course, each of the stories capturing humanity and compassion. Each story(or should I say book!) echoed the others, with common names, themes and location-an NYC of the past and future, imagined and real. Characters often have little agency, complicated love, struggle with family, illness, grief. But after investing so much time, I ended up feeling a little like I was at arms length from what the book was trying to say.

This book redeemed itself, not because the gaps were filled but because my heart was. You‘ll recognize NY, but not NY, you‘ll recognize America but not America, you‘ll recognize A Little Life, but not ALL. There‘s SO MUCH to unwind, and I‘m eager to discuss To Paradise with all of you. This book is not perfect, and I still have some MAJOR issues with it, however I was spellbound and invested from the very first page. Audio was FABULOUS 🎧❤️

I know I‘m just at the very beginning but it‘s VERY GOOD 🧡🎧🙌🏻 I think it‘s probably better to go print because there‘s a lot of characters & it‘s difficult to keep all the details in my head.

Cortg A Little Life destroyed me but it‘s an all time favorite. I have a library hold on this one so it may be a bit before I get it. I‘m excited and nervous about reading it! I put a hold on a print copy because I can‘t imagine listening to A Little Life so I‘m going with that. Fingers crossed it‘s awesome. I haven‘t read The People in the Trees. Can‘t wait to hear what you think if it when you finish! 3y
