Ralph becomes enamoured of a new friend‘s young daughter, Daphne, the first time he sees her, pursuing an illicit relationship that has repercussions decades later.

Pub lunch & Putney.

The older Daphne got, the more she comprehended how the treachery of age was baffling when it caught you.

Putney is a Lolita-esque story but continues on as Daphne is an adult, looking back on what happened to her as a child. This book takes you to uncomfortable places and is an emotionally difficult book, but it makes you think. I‘ve not read many books as brave as this.
