Annihilation was by far my favorite of the trilogy
My first Mieville in English! I was a bit scared to read this chunkster, but I think I managed pretty well. I had to fight sometimes to make it through, but as always, Mieville is worth it.
The world-building is just amazing, and I got sucked into this special world. We deal with a lot during this story. Politics, betrayal, death, but also friendship, honesty and making things right.

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. The worldbuilding is weird in a good way. But the ending was a mess and it could have used a little bit more editing. Recommend the audio as well.
I have no idea what to say about this surprise fourth novel in Jeff Vandermeer‘s iconic Southern Reach trilogy except “What did I just read?” You may discover more questions than answers here, but, with three narrators spanning 20+ years in over 400 pages, this new entry point (not starting point) offers ever more mesmerizing, uncanny, and extreme views of Area X before Annihilation. Who could resist?
#ShadowCat is doing yoga. Guess he needed some time on the mat.
I'll give him a few more minutes and continue with the tagged #ARC.

1) Stuart Turton, but you're probably all fed up of me plugging his books by now, so I'm gonna give a shout out to Jeff Vandermeer, Emily St John Mandel, Helen Oyeyemi, Neil Gaiman, Haruki Murakami, Brian K. Vaughan, Patricia Lockwood, Blake Crouch, David Mitchell, Alison Rumfitt, Patrick DeWitt, Stephen King, N.K. Jemison, Claire North, and Bernadine Evaristo.
2) Jeff Vandermeer's fungalpunk Finch was decent.
Well, this is a serious WTF moment. Keanu Reeves and China Miéville have written a book together (?!) and I (?!?!) have been invited on NetGalley to read an early copy?!? What is happening? Am I in the Matrix?
I am posting one book per day from my extensive, and ever growing, TBR shelves. Some are old and some are new, some were gifts and some I don't remember why I bought them
