Enjoying my “me” time at Starbucks while waiting to pick up one of my kids. #momselfcare #allalone

JaclynW Mom self-care is so important! Good job! 7y
ElishaLovesBooks @JaclynW I agree! It‘s so hard! Thanks for the encouragement 💜 7y
Kappadeemom I agree! As a mom of 6 kids, i stressed waaaayyy too much about always being there for them. I wished I would have slowed down, calmed down and enjoyed little moments such as these more. Mom guilt is just so ridiculous. 7y

JaclynW @Kappadeemom Mom guilt is ridiculous! @ElishaLovesBooks It's good for our kids to see us doing things for ourselves. 😊 7y
ElishaLovesBooks @Kappadeemom @JaclynW With 5 kids I am often doing so much chauffeuring amongst everything else (teenagers are harder than littles) that if I don‘t take care of myself , I tend to blow up🤯. But it is so hard to let go of the mom guilt- I almost took my 9 year old with me to Starbucks because of that guilt!🙈🤦🏻‍♀️ 7y
JaclynW @ElishaLovesBooks That sounds so familiar! 7y

1. Get back to running/ working out regularly- I‘ve hit a rough patch the last few months. Try and make time for myself #momselfcare
2. I‘m not sure yet. Usually whatever catches my mood.
3./4. I‘m doing my first challenge and swaps: #booked2018 #muglove #feedareader
5. Hot tea or coffee, Netflix fireplace, blanket
6. I‘m late to this so not sure who to tag?

Cinfhen Yay!!!! 7y
Wbabdullah You‘re not late! You‘re right on time! I‘ve got to get my workout on too...lost some strength over the past year or two...ah, the woes of complacency!! 7y
ElishaLovesBooks @Wbabdullah I love litsy but more reading = less time for running! 😂 7y

Wbabdullah I find when I‘m on Litsy, I‘m reading more about Reading and growing my TBR stack instead of actually reading!! Working out might be a good way for me to actually read and move my behind!! 🤔 7y
ElishaLovesBooks @Wbabdullah I totally agree with you about reading about reading AND the giant TBR that is taking over my everything 😂 I wish I liked audiobooks because then I could read and move at the same time. I might give hem another try but I‘m usually too visual of a person to enjoy them. I‘m trying to up my motivation- any chance you want to be #virtualworkoutbuddies ?😊💪🏃🏻‍♀️ 7y
Wbabdullah I would totally love that! I need motivation cuz I‘m totally in couch potato mode. I just want to read but I have excuses I depend on for that couch potato mode but that hasn‘t helped anything! Maybe we can be audiobook buddies and reading buddies too as we workout sometimes @ElishaLovesBooks . What say you?? 7y
Wbabdullah In the meantime, I‘m going to think of an audiobook I have really liked that maybe you‘ll like too.:: 7y
Wbabdullah I‘m very visual and kinesthetic. I can listen to an audiobook...if I‘m taking notes. Otherwise I sleep. I can also listen while cleaning or cooking. I don‘t know how that‘s gonna work for jumping around... 7y
Wbabdullah What kind of workouts are you into?? (Sorry for all the messages—just kept getting new ideas!!) 7y
ElishaLovesBooks @Wbabdullah I don‘t even know how to listen to audiobooks- I‘m clueless. I usually just run but I have a gym membership and instead of running outside, I run on the treadmill and do some weights. I‘m kind of all over the place🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ 7y
ElishaLovesBooks @Wbabdullah I get bored easily but I used to have a personal trainer so I have some standard things I remember to do 😊 7y
Wbabdullah When I do exercise, I‘m into weightlifting for strength and endurance. I have to get back on that. I need #momselfcare too. I‘m currently listening to Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert on audiobook and I like it. I also liked listening to Snoop on audiobook—these are good for creative types. I heard Lab Girl was good on audiobook and I want to listen to that or read that next 7y
Wbabdullah Re: audiobooks. All you have to do is plug in some headphones or blast it on your speakers at home or in the car or wherever you may be. I don‘t listen to audiobooks so much while driving or walking around town though—I get too caught up in the literary world and won‘t obey traffic signs lol 7y
Wbabdullah I generally check out audiobooks from my library cuz they can be expensive unless u have an audible account! I also listen to them on audible with my husband when he‘s driving, lol. 7y
ElishaLovesBooks @Wbabdullah Weightlifting is awesome! I used to be better at it before I got into running! Do you need an app for the audiobooks? Library? I‘m not sure how it works. I was thinking of listening to a book I‘m already reading? Not sure if that will work or not😊 Also, safety first!😂 7y
Wbabdullah Yes overdrive and hoopla are probably apps your local library has access to. Go ahead and check and then download the apps you need, put in your library card and listen away! If you need help, let me know! I used to be a librarian but I‘d need to know your city, state where you have a library card to find out what audio service your library is subscribed to. You should be able to find that info on your library‘s homepage under services though. 7y
ElishaLovesBooks @Wbabdullah ok, that sounds manageable. I already have the Chicago Public Library app on my phone so I will start there! Thank you for all the help! I will look into those books you mentioned too! 💖#momselfcaresupportgroup Can that be a thing???😂😊😉 7y
Wbabdullah I think it so can be a thing!! It could even be a new challenge to ring in the new year! We could have bullet points for all moms to meet—things we know we don‘t do like eat at least a full meal three times a day, workout once a week, read a book you want to read once a week, lol. Or read books about some healthy living, psychotherapy lol...if u want to make it a challenge, I‘m game to help you. Otherwise we can just loosely hashtag it up 😁 7y
Wbabdullah Ok last recommendation: I heard this is also awesome on audiobook (read by author just like Big Magic and Lab Girl) 7y
Wbabdullah Ok I know I said the previous one was my last recommendation but this one truly is—I‘m gonna try this one on audiobook too: 7y
ElishaLovesBooks I‘ve been wanting to read @Wbabdullah (edited) 7y
ElishaLovesBooks I read and I liked it but her book wasn‘t as funny as she is in real life. But I bet if she‘s reading it, it will be great! @Wbabdullah (edited) 7y
ElishaLovesBooks @Wbabdullah I‘m not great with planning/ details- I get stressed out easily and between working and being a mom, I don‘t think right now is a good idea for me to organize a challenge- although I ❤️❤️❤️❤️ the idea! Maybe we can start with a hashtag?? 7y
ElishaLovesBooks @Wbabdullah also- I downloaded overdrive! Of course, I accidentally borrowed an e-book instead of audio but I‘m learning!!! So thank you!! 7y
Wbabdullah Yay!! No accidents!! I‘m always downloading things and thinking how can I read all of these books within 14 Days?!? Let‘s read Long Way Down together! The author is from my neighborhood and I met him a few weeks ago! It was so cool! 7y
ElishaLovesBooks @Wbabdullah yes! Can we start it Jan 8? I think I can snag a copy from my school library! 7y
Wbabdullah For sure! Let‘s do it! And I‘ll try to get up the nerve to start exercising by then too! 7y
ElishaLovesBooks @Wbabdullah Yay!!! And you can do it! Start small! 7y
Wbabdullah 💪🏽 and maybe if we do enough Mom self care this year, we can learn what needs to be done and make a challenge for 2019! 7y
ElishaLovesBooks @Wbabdullah Yes! I love it! 7y
