I‘m enjoyed this companion to “Alone”, but I have to say I liked Aline more. As that focused on a singular character, this was split between 4 POVs, all told in either verse, news article style, or like a script which was a little distracting and couldn‘t get as close to the characters. The story is good though, and I‘m glad to see what happened to everyone who “disappeared “ in Alone.

Fun middle school who-dun-nit read with an elf, an ogre, a wizard, and two young girls who are confident and hilarious. You will love the Lilac and her bard, Netta.

BethM I really like the cover. 3w

Look who finished a book

I‘ve been sick and obsessing about Disney Dreamlight Valley so this has been a long time coming.

Rise of the World Eater is the 3rd and final installment of the Frostheart series and I thought it was a good end to the series.

This was one of January‘s #bookspin #doublespin pick but I can‘t remember which.

This was a very quick read but didn't captivate me nearly as much as Alone did.

Addison_Reads I agree. I loved Alone and was so excited for this one, but it just didn't connect the same way. 1mo

This year I am striving to post more consistently here and to actually participate in #bookspin #doublespin

I have chosen to make my list a list of prompts so as to not be forced to read something I don‘t want to or loose interest in a book because it becomes required reading.

January‘s prompts were Fiancé Pick and Poll Pick.

#bookspin #doublespin is hosted by @TheAromaofBooks

TheAromaofBooks Yay!! Enjoy!! 3mo
BacklistReader @TheAromaofBooks I hop to. I really liked the fist two books in Frostheart series and Philippa Gregory is one of my favorite authors. 3mo
TierraWilliams243 That‘s such a smart approach—using prompts gives you flexibility while keeping the fun in reading! Wishing you the best with #bookspin and #doublespin this year. It‘s a great way to stay engaged and discover new reads. Looking forward to seeing what books your prompts lead you to!

BacklistReader @TierraWilliams243 I‘m hoping this works cause I love this challenge but I have yet to complete it. Good luck with your 2025 read‘s hopefully there are more good ones than not so good ones. 3mo

Good middle grade read. Fun for lovers of musical theater about a young girl, who uses a wheelchair, and her pursuit of a life on stage.

Spectacular. Equal parts joy and sadness with regards to the potential of developing a skill, a creative outlet, sharing life with family and friends, addressing loss that comes with war, with the death of a parent. The sinister element of the liches, the idea of refusing death, spirits not at rest hungering for power, also feels like a metaphor for how war devastates, can traumatize survivors. 1/?

Robotswithpersonality 2/2 Visuals in the final reveal gave me actual chills, so I think we'll put this as an 'older kids and up' suggested reader age range.
The world building and art had me smiling the whole way through (minus the creepy parts).
Also, hurray for trans character rep with acknowledgement of top surgery! Still feels exceptional to see, so glad whenever I do.

The characters and atmosphere were fantastic but the pacing was erratic.
