Pickpick

This story was brilliant. The stakes were high, the danger real, and it had me turning the page every chance I got.

April is easy to like and relate to, despite being a mer princess. All the characters are well thought out with clear motives that make sense, even the villains. I really enjoyed the pearl magic system.

It‘s forever since I read this book, but you know it‘s good when the story stays with you. Ingo is set in Cornwall and the setting is described vividly. I do remember feeling a bit worried about them discovering the underwater world and feared it was a trick. I probably shouldreread it as an adult and rediscover Ingo.

This was my first mermaid book. What was your first mermaid book?

Check out my recent Behind the Book blog post with author Hannah Reed about Tenebrasco. This YA Contemporary Fantasy is the first book in her The Pearl Wielders trilogy.

It‘s also my current read for #MerMay as I‘m taking part in the #MerMayReadalong

1. Tagged book on audio and The Possessed by Elif Batuman on kindle

2. On litsy Losing Earth and a couple other books about climate change, and in person Bluebeard‘s Egg by Margaret Atwood and a couple other books with fairy tale images for a friend who just loved the bloody chamber

3. Music - Taylor Swift, Bruce Springsteen or the National. Art - genuinely no idea, I‘m a beginner enjoying all of it atm

thegirlwiththelibrarybag I love the Impressionist period of art... but I also love how much art I‘ve been exposed to on Instagram. I‘ve found so many artists (especially women artists) who are working today through online challenges like #mermay (a mermaid a day in May) and #inktober (a drawing a day in ink in October) - it‘s amazing! 5y

Started a new book while on lunch break. I am doing the #mermay art challenge over on Instagram so I figured I‘d bring the mermaids over here too by reading a mermaid book. 📖
