I discovered the tagged book while browsing B&N last week. From what I can tell Takamura's book has left a significant impression on Japanese culture. It is studied in school & there have been several film & tv adaptations. Based upon a high-profile kidnapping case in '84, Kirkus called Lady Joker a “challenging, genre-confounding epic.“ Clocking in at over 600 pages, vol. 1 apparently ends on a cliffhanger. If I love it as much as I suspect I👇

smalldogs_bigbooks2419 I think I read this a long time ago. Or maybe I‘m just remembering my mom reading it. One of my clearest memories of childhood, is noticing the covers of the novels my mom read and hearing here tell me the (very simplified) summary of the story. In any case, I‘d love to read it, whether it‘s the first or second time. 4y

Both stories are beautifully crafted with mesmerizing world building, many quotable moments and characters that you will fall in love with, come to care for so much and cry even more over! persephone1408 When I read this book (which is still my favorite book) I hated Lestat, because Louis did. It wasn't until I read the vampire Lestat that I fell in love with him. Brad was perfect as my Louis! (Perfectly beautiful) 4y
