Finding this hard to rate! I loved Ma's depictions of NYC, American consumerism, & millennial corporate life. The ennui she portrayed that can result from the mundane tasks of product development was spot on. Even in the midst of Shen fever, corporate climbers tried to hold onto irrational career ambitions. I didn't like the post-apocalyptic storyline as much. It felt like too much going on, & I tired of Bob. Nancy Wu's narration was good. 3.5⭐️s!

This one gets mixed reviews, but I really loved it! I think it‘s the first time I‘ve read historical fiction based on the Vikings. I appreciate that Eelyn - a warrior in the Aska tribe - is strong and sensitive, as are some other characters, male and female. These two things don‘t have to be mutually exclusive! And...Vikings!! I definitely need to read more Viking era books. Also love that this is a stand-alone novel!

This was so much fun. If you romance novels and lesbian pirates, you‘ll like this.

Clare-Dragonfly I don‘t necessarily like romance novels… but who can say no to lesbian pirates?! 6y
