This didn't disappoint! Turns out it's still a favourite for me and I had forgotten some parts of it, so the re-read was good. This will be staying on my shelf.

Next up: this was a favourite of mine for a long time. I haven't touched it in ages and it's possible I've outgrown it now, but that's the fun of my challenge to clean up my bookshelf - out with the old, in with the new, and able to share the love with others through lending and little free libraries (or donations). #BookSevenOf2025
This is the second Michael Pollan book I‘ve listened to this year, and once again it did not disappoint. He has a keen ability of making his subject accessible to the layperson. In The Botany of Desire his main conceit is to present the reader/listener with a view of humanity from the perspective of 4 different plants: apples, tulips, cannabis, and the potato. I‘m not sure if he really stays true to his thesis, but the plethora of info is great.
Book 2 in #jubilantjuly @Andrew65 is in anticipation of my finishing the trilogy soon. I found this one in a library sale + it is a roller coaster of a story of the drug trade + Mexican cartels. Chon, Ben and g/f O (ophelia) are a trio of characters who end up pulled into the cartel plan to move into the drug supply taking over Ben's business. The consequent v small chapters makes for a fast moving violent thriller.
Day 29
An informative and fluid look at the history of Cannabis. I thoroughly enjoyed learning the medicinal uses dating back thousands of years ago. Also includes the history behind institutionalized racism attached. Something that I highly appreciate is Booth‘s opinion is known BUT it does not influence his writing on the history. May reread since last reading so much has changed in regards to cannabis.

“Merida, I have to tell you something....I‘m carrying a child” Mer chuckled. It was just his quirky sense of humor. But Doug‘s pale eyes were unwavering. “I had a reading with a friend from the psychic institute,”he said. “Though I really didn‘t need her to tell me. This is something I‘ve known for a while.” Baking pot brownies for the sick is brave and noble but these people are incredibly annoying.
What I'm readin' now! What happens when the US is having Winter all year long?
I don‘t have a lot of feelings about weed; it‘s on the extensive list of things about which I do not know enough to take an intellectual stance and I‘m certainly not in any position to place judgment on its usage or legality.
But I do love a memoir about families that are so different from my own, and I do love a free download from the library, so this book happened and I‘m so, so happy about that.
Informative, entertaining, educational. Loved!
Today‘s prompt for #BoundTogetherJune is Fruit on the cover.
Apples, potatoes, marijuana, and tulips are the stars of this collection of connected essays, which leave you wondering, who‘s in control? The plants or us? The writing style makes the science accessible to the average Nicole.
