I must admit that I was a bit bored during the first quarter of this book. (Where were the standard romance tropes? Where was the angst?) But after that I was all in. Emmett and Luke were really sweet and I absolutely loved the subplot "mystery" involving Luke's grandma. This felt like an authentic teen relationship. Loved it.

So. Much. FLUFF. Especially for under 150 pages. These two are just so cute. An almost breakup? Over miscommunication and wild feelings? Predicable yet still felt new with them. I always liked how much they felt like a normal couple, even though (as they say) are not normal. And that‘s okay. Every relationship is different, with different needs. #lgbtqa

Extremely short and oh so fluffy. Very interesting take on an out gay falling for the “token straight guy”. Especially when said guy starts questioning. The “I don‘t think he‘s straight” lines were amusing. Loads of talks on bullying, anxiety, identity, and overall peer pressure due to it all. Great exploration of identity in a safe space. Very adorable art style; simple yet emotionally powerful. #lgbtqa Biggest complaint is it‘s just too short

Very mixed feelings. The plot was mediocre. Character explained her asexuality well throughout. Like how she wasn‘t questioned about it. It made up few huge points in the plot. Yet didn‘t seem to change this obsession. Maybe it‘s because I identify as ace, and I know everyone does different, but this didn‘t sit well. By the end it caught up a bit more. The early book obsession ends by obsessing over someone else? Nah. #lgbtqa

Set against a theme parked owned by country icon Wanda Jean Stubbs, aspiring gay country singer Emmett falls for the closeted Luke as the pair navigate through their feelings and learn family secrets in this LGBTAQ+ young adult novel.

Emmett wants to be a the first openly gay country music star and idolizes Wanda Jean (insert a red headed Dolly Parton). Luke doesn‘t like country music bc of a supposed falling out between his grandma Verna and Wanda herself, he isn‘t out yet and just wants to work to help his family get by. They both end up working at this fictional version of Dollywood and discover a lost secret about what happened between Verna and Wanda. mostly this was cute

Though slow to start and I was a little lost in all the characters for a while, this was an enjoyable read. A steamy #lgbtqa+ historical fantasy romance. I would compare to Cat Sebastian but with magic. 4⭐️

Started a new book last night while this one was passed out in my lap. Really interesting world building, looking forward to digging in further.
