The Pairing | Casey McQuiston

I finished this book ages ago but haven't been able to find words to review it. I was so looking forward to it and it did not disappoint! I devoured the audiobook and have been rereading the print book here and there when I miss the characters. Just such a decadent story with lust & pining, wanderlust & cuisine, and a great exploration of sexuality & gender. I adore these two bisexual disasters 💖

I didn‘t think I could love a book more than I did the first two, but it happened! Marske makes excellent use of a trope I usually hate - enemies to lovers - and continues to build on already vivid character and world dynamics. She‘s also a master at spicy scenes if those are your jam, constantly one-upping her prior scenes somehow. Given how much I love this series, I was delighted to see a glimmer of more on the horizon. #lgbtqia #magic

This book is a riot! I laughed so much, it's such a joyful silly story. At the same time, there is a lot of heart and it was really a comforting read. The characters were delightful and their growth individually and as a unit was satisfying to witness. I loved that while this is a novel about pirates, the main concluding event wasn't a cannon battle or treasure hunt, but a community cake competition. Utterly surprising in the best way 💖

Book 2 in the Unstoppable series, I'm really glad I switched to audio. It was really well done. This one follows Rachael & Elza as they deal with the ramifications from the ending of book 1 & try to find their place in alien society. I can't say too much w/o spoilers but I loved the character growth, especially w getting multiple perspectives this time. Lots of great action packed battles as well. This series definitely gets even better as you go

I started reading this at the end of Dec but I was a bit burnt out on holiday reads by then so I didn't get far. I had a whim to pick it back up recently & ended up really enjoying it.
Hall brings his signature style to this hilarious fake amnesia story. Quirky characters, silly shenanigans, & a heartwarming romance. I liked the family dynamics around a big holiday celebration. And of course I loved Jonathan's relationship w/ Sam's ugly cat Gollum

Kenyazero Sounds cute. Glad you got a second wind to finish it! 3mo

Short story collections can be hit or miss but this one was great. I enjoyed pretty much all of the stories, which is rare. Each story featured mlm relationships during a masquerade. They had a good mix of sci-fi and fantasy elements and lots of diverse queer representation. I appreciated the inclusion of platonic and polyamory relationships, as well as classic tropes like friends or enemies to lovers

This was a gorgeous novel about finding your purpose and following your passions despite external pressures. Grace has always had a life plan, but when the struggle to succeed in her field because of racial and sexist ideals becomes too much, she drunkenly gets married in Vegas and decides to spend the summer with her new wife. A beautiful expression of found family, identity, and dealing with anxiety

Only Orlando | Charlie Novak

A spin off story for one of the side characters from another of this author's series. Orlando matches with an older married couple and the three men navigate a new relationship together. Charles is a Dom and Jude is a Daddy, Orlando is happy to fall into their dynamic. This was all spice and fluff with practically zero angst or conflict. Perfect light read and palate cleanser.

I wanted to reread this one in preparation for Tadek's story & I decided to do the audiobook this time. And ughhh this book is so good! 18 hours just flew by! The slowburn romance is everything, I love witnessing Evermer slowly discovering Kadou's character as more than just a flighty prince. I love the way these two grow closer & how fealty between a prince and his protectors is described so intricately and with such significance on reciprocity⬇️

peanutnine And I love how panic attacks are portrayed so accurately & treated with care from the other characters even though they aren't named or understood in this fantasy world. 4mo

This was a short and funny Hamlet retelling set at a southern family barbeque. Juicy is a queer Black college kid who sees his father's ghost after he was killed in prison. Except Juicy doesn't want to get revenge, but is trying to break his family's cycle of trauma and toxic masculinity.
This was originally written as a play, and I think it would thrive on the stage
