The Gods of Gotham | Lyndsay Faye

Pickpick

What makes this book SO GOOD is the sense of time and place. Lyndsay Faye brings NYC to life from the language, smells and vivid descriptions of the young scrappy immigrants striving to eek out a life in the newly established USA. A great #LastRead for 2020. Happy New Year, friends🥂Here‘s to friendship, good health and fabulous new books in 2021🎉💓☮️

Done with the last book of 2019! I was very excited to read about #Mughal rule India. I enjoyed the story line but not the political drama involved. The main character Mehrunissa is very strong and author is successful in portraying her feelings and struggle. But the description of the plots were not satisfactory, either too much or too little details. Overall it‘s a good book for #historicalfiction lovers. 3⭐️ #lastread #Indian #triology

"What the fuck is up with you?"
"I don't know. Everything reminds me of something else today. G-man shrugged. "We got some good weed. It does that to me sometimes."

So, the principle of the story was very good. And it's impressive that it was published and has a relatively wide release. The problem is it was easy to see it as the initial book in the series. Typos, awkward phrasing and some strange plot shifts threw me for a loop. I was left with a cliff hanger, and will give it some thought before I pick up book 2. #indieauthor #Comicconfind #lastread
