Jane Austen‘s Juvenilia & Early Works — Enjoying this read! 📚❤️
When I first read this book I truthfully was a bit disappointed with my dear Jane Austin and felt this wasn‘t her best work. Then I found out that she wrote it when she was only 14!!! I shall never doubt such a beloved author again. So is it amazing? No… but it is worth reading and is still impressive considering the age and experience of the author as this was also her first book. #52challenge
Short collection of poems Carroll wrote for two of his younger siblings when he was 13.
Very entertaining and, as was remarked in the preface, you can see hints of what he writes later - like the story of Humpty-Dumpty. The poems originally all had illustrations done by Carroll himself, but only a handful of the drawings were included in this version, which is too bad.
Recommend if you feel like reading some cute and silly poetry 😛

My lovely Clothbound Classic contains all 3 Volumes of Jane Austen's Juvenilia. I've finished Volume 1. Silly but oh so delightful. 📖📚🫖
Jane Austen wrote Love and Friendship (originally spelled Love and Freindship [sic]) when she was just 14 years old. The three notebooks that contain her early works, including this story, are currently on display at the Bodleian Library and the British Museum. Taking the form as letters written by the heroine to the daughter of her friend, this story resembles a fairy tale that lampoons the conventions of romantic stories at the time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Well this was a RIOT! The funniest 20 pages I‘ve read in some time. Young Jane is having a blast sending up the sentimental 18th century novels —so much swooning, so much drama, so many outrageous coincidences. Very silly, but the emergence of a great wit is also very much in evidence.
