This was not like the other two Shafak books that I‘ve read - it was less dark and felt more like a Victoria Hislop. That‘s not a criticism at all, as I like Hislop‘s books, and this one too. The story of the partition of Cyprus is told in two different timelines, and partly by a fig tree which sounds weird but works.
