Pickpick

A charming memoir of an out-of-the blue decision to buy a run-down house in France. It includes a lot of animals, a lot of French food and and a lot of quirky French neighbours and customs - good fun!

I‘m including this for #france in #readingeurope2020, and also for #house/home for #m&m.

BarbaraTheBibliophage Oh nice this sounds like a good pick for the #houseorhome prompt for #mandmchallenge2020! I love books about France. 🇫🇷 5y
squirrelbrain Thanks for clarifying the hashtag for your challenge @BarbaraTheBibliophage - I knew I wasn‘t dong it right! 🤪 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @squirrelbrain Sure! I figured you wouldn‘t mind if I did that! 😘 5y

BarbaraBB Hi Helen, you‘re quiet this week, all well? X 5y
squirrelbrain Hi @BarbaraBB thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately my lovely mother in law passed away on Thursday evening. She had been suffering with MND so, whilst it was expected at some point, it actually happened much sooner than anyone thought. 💔 My husband and his family are all coping well though, it‘s such a terrible disease that it‘s quite a relief that she‘s no longer suffering. Helen x 5y
BarbaraBB I am so sorry for your loss. It is a terrible disease indeed, it must have been so hard for all of you and your mother in law herself to cope with. Wishing you lots of strength now and in the sad times ahead. 😘❤️ (edited) 5y
squirrelbrain Thanks Barbara, your kind thoughts are much appreciated 😘 @BarbaraBB 5y
Crazeedi @squirrelbrain I'm so sorry to hear your sad news, sending a big hug and prayers across the pond💔 5y

I treated myself to a #DollarTree #BookHaul this morning at my closest Dollar Tree. Lots of books to choose from this time, and I snatched up these beauties. Any of these that should go near the top of my tbr?

Incidentally, The Fortress would work for France for #ReadingEurope2020 , and it‘s a memoir, so would also fit for #mandmchallenge2020 (the title refers to the 13th century castle the author buys with her husband).

Jess I just finished the Lonely Hearts Hotel and liked it. Enjoy whatever you choose to read next. 5y
Christine Great haul! And thank you for the cutest Christmas card! One of my kids is obsessed with penguins so it is his favorite of the year by far. 🎄🐧❤️ 5y
ljuliel I read The Book of Polly awhile back. It‘s pretty good. A Southern tale , but not the Gritty Noir sort of Southern. It was about a 3.5 🌟 book . Enjoy. 😊 5y

Librarybelle @Christine Thank you! I‘m glad the card arrived safely, and that the penguin is a hit! 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Interesting pick for #mandmchallenge—the #houseorhome prompt?? 5y
Librarybelle @BarbaraTheBibliophage Yes! It sounds like the fortress becomes a character in the memoir, as the author talks about the dissolving of her marriage while there. Will that work? 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Of course that works. You‘ll know once you read it. I‘m intrigued and awaiting your review! 5y
