1- I‘ve loved Isabella since I was little. Interestingly though it was not on my name list if we had a girl.
2- this trilogy has an Elspeth and a Talia both of which I love.

TheSpineView Cool name choice. Thanks for playing 6mo

This was a re-read that I started in February. It took me a while because certain scenes are hard to read (definitely trigger warning territory) and I was putting it off. I'd give it four stars out of five with one star docked for the trigger warning material. Overall I enjoyed most of Talia's journey. I look forward to reading the rest of the series!

The second published #valdemar book! This was a re-read for me. Even though I've read it a couple times in the past I could feel myself becoming anxious during certain parts. It's an interesting book that expands on Talia's story from the first book, but I enjoyed the first book more.

Any #valdemar fans? I started re-reading the series earlier this year. I've read about half of them over the years so there will be about 19 mainline books that will be new to me. I'm intending to read them all in publication order so I started with the very first one: Arrows of the Queen. This is an excellent intro to the Valdemar kingdom and how Heralds work.

Light_of_Aether I haven't read any of the Valdemar books published after 2003 nor have I read the Vows and Honor or Darian's Tale books. I have two of the 16 anthologies books, but I don't remember if I read them through. Including mainline and anthologies I have 35 new-to-me books to read! 2y
GondorGirl I've read the entire series (most of them multiple times). You're in for a real treat with the Darian books, they're some of my favorites. 2y
Light_of_Aether I'm glad to hear that! I always enjoyed the parts with the Tayledras. 2y

1. If it's YA I cdc typically see the twists coming. Adult books are a lot more difficult.

2. Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar series. I've been reading them since I was 12 (there are over 30 books now!). It was my gateway into fantasy novels and even though some of the earlier books feel a bit dated I will always adore them.

3. Fake dating! And morally gray characters. 🧡

4. Litsy!

1. The Complete Arrow‘s Trilogy: Arrow‘s Fall

- I‘m loving Arrow‘s Fall compared to Arrow‘s Flight.

2. My indoor #greenhouse (using an IKEA Detolf Cabinet).

- It‘s hard growing plants in the desert.

3. Jim Henson‘s The Storyteller: Ghosts #1 by Márk László.

- I really enjoyed this graphic novel.

rachelsbrittain I love the idea of an indoor greenhouse! 3y

Currently reading Arrow‘s Flight 🤯 Kris and Talia??? Wth, why??? Totally turned off.

GondorGirl Keep reading... I don't want to spoil anything, but you'll probably be happy it happened later in the trilogy. 3y
vumblereads @GondorGirl oh thanks! Something to look forward to! Almost finished with Arrow‘s Flight. 3y
GondorGirl @vumblereads The Valdemar books are my favorites ever. I've been reading them since I was 15 and have read the entire series multiple times. I can't wait to hear what you think about the rest of this trilogy. 3y

vumblereads Okay will let you know! 😊 3y
vumblereads @GondorGirl finished the trilogy! I know what you mean now when you mentioned something about later in the series. I found the 3 books okay, I feel like it could be better? But since it was written earlier (80‘s?), I think it was pretty good especially since it has LGBTQ themes in it. Didn‘t think there would be rape in there too. Im not a fan of the second book though, there really wasn‘t much plot but only character development I guess for talia 3y
vumblereads @GondorGirl what other valdemar books do you recommend? 3y
GondorGirl @vumblereads A number of years later she wrote the Wind trilogy which follows Elspeth. I think those are my favorite books in the entire series. The Arrows books are where it all started, but the series evolved a lot over the years. 3y
GondorGirl @vumblereads I also really love the Owl trilogy, which follows the Hawkbrothers more than the Heralds. 3y
vumblereads @GondorGirl aww I‘d like to know what happened to Elspeth! Thanks! 3y
