A grand story, with grand lessons and symbolism all in 145 pages.

Forward by Ann Patchett, who brought this book back into print.

While visiting Nashville, I toured Cheekwood Estate. This is a dumbwaiter in a nook off the library. They used it to easily get books up to and down from the second floor for reading in the bedrooms. Genius.
(I started the tagged book while on this trip.)

Not my usual sort of read, but I thought this was great! Completely bonkers plot, very very funny, and some amazing characters! Will definitely be reading some more Hiaasen.

And 2 lines in #bookspinbingo which I think is a record for me!

I really enjoyed reading about following the striped bass migration southward. The author stops in many places and sees firsthand what this migratory path means to the community.

Another Peter Heller banger! It was fun to discover that the protagonist was one of the two main characters from The River 😊

Luke-XVX Solid read, I‘d like to check out his other titles 2mo
Pedrocamacho Definitely, @Luke-XVX, check out The River! And The Last Ranger! 2mo

The Painter: A novel | Peter Heller

I‘ve been meaning to post this since my trip last month…

📗 Old Venus (signed) from George R. R. Martin‘s bookstore, Beastly Books

📕 The Painter, set in Santa Fe, found used in op.cit. books

Even though there are only 2 books, they‘re hardcover and they would only fit in my carry-on so I still feel this fits the definition of “haul.” 😅

julieclair A quality haul! 4mo
