I had the privilege of discussing books all afternoon with my Mama, #hottakes, here‘s some of the ones we discussed, some I‘ve read, some I sent her because she HAD to read them and some she recommended to me. I‘m forever grateful that I can spend hours discussing my favorite thing with my Mom 💕 #familytime #books #allthebooks #familysthatreadtogether #familybookclub

Here on Stuck in the Stacks we feel strongly about encouraging reading among all ages, so today we're sharing a feature we're calling: Multigenerational Monday.
Emily, her son Evan, and her father all read the same book and today they share their individual thoughts about a recent MG book they enjoyed.

The story of how much of the author‘s family survived the holocaust. Each family member took a different route to survive relying on bravery, a lot of luck, ingenuity, and the fortune of having resources and looking Aryan. Each persons individual journey was its own struggle and she also covered the difficulty of finding each other once the war ended which is not often addressed. #familybookclub
Moving depiction of a group of young gay men in 1980s Chicago as they cope with the AIDS epidemic, homophobia, and their own diagnoses. Going back and forth in time between the mid-1980s and 2015, it focuses on the stories of Yale and of Fiona (a sister of the one of the men and a friend and caregiver to many of them). Yale‘s story was particularly compelling and heartbreaking. #familybookclub
So so confusing at the beginning, middle and then I loved the end. I think a major part of my problem is I tried to read this at the beach during family vacation with lots going on. It's not something that I was able to easily jump back into after a break. Would have been better for me if I had several uninterrupted hours to devote to Evelyn. But overall, it was so inventive and for that it's a total pick. #audiobook #familybookclub
A bit slow in places but overcome by the powerful portrait of the relationship between the parents and children in a religious Muslim family. Questions of how much responsibility parents have for who their children become. The father‘s evolution brought me to tears. I also learned a lot about the practice of Islam. Looking forward to discussing this at family bookclub. #muslimmc #familybookclub
Another beautiful evening for reading on the deck. Digging into the tagged book for my family book club. Starting to get intriguing. Happy weekend! #familybookclub #shabbatreads #tgif #downphoto
