This is a fun story about a researcher looking into the origins of fads and who ends up falling in love and herding sheep in the process.

This was a quick, fun read that reminded me a lot of Crosstalk—but I liked these characters far better. I‘m starting to think that Connie Willis‘ books generally fall into two categories: lighthearted semi-madcap comedies and more serious sci-fi. This was the former & I think I prefer the latter, though I did enjoy this. I must say: her mild satire of corporate culture was hilarious. I mean, there was literally a character named “Management.” 😂
I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new - don‘t judge me I have a lot of books.
Join the fun if you want. This is day 247.

I bought this a few years ago because for some reason I can't remember, I was excited to read it. In retrospect, that was silly -- because I'm really not that interested in food or food histories. Oops! Another book that just wasn't for me, but I'm happy to clear it off my physical TBR!
Plus...it checks off my last #Booked2021 Winter prompt - #BakedGoodsontheCover.

This book was meant to be funny but it's the type of humor that I enjoy more in a movie than in a book. Lots of absurd happenings. Lots of characters introduced but not too deeply. Not too much of a plot. But it was interesting and entertaining for a Sunday read!
The Hula Hoop, miniature golf, the twist. All fads have a low ability threshold. That's why you never see speed chess becoming a fad. Or fencing.
Do we really? Books is a definite no (just look around Litsy). Fads are a maybe; we all see the same fads eventually. Celebrities are a definite no. I don‘t even know who most celebrities are or why they‘re “famous.” Movies are another maybe. Goods, another maybe.
