“Yet it‘s the briefest of seasons, and what time there is in summer is carried forward by wind, by Boreas, god of the north wind, who, it‘s said, can blow out of two or more cheeks at once.”

I enjoyed this collection of essays, but not as much as Open Spaces.

Fresh MT trout, it‘s what‘s for dinner! 😁

Ncostell Wow, great catch! 5y
ladym30 Those trout look great! Enjoy!! 5y

Not quite #MrKnowItAll but close: this was one of my first bails of last year: the pretentiousness of the title should've been warning enough. Sheesh, what obnoxiously self-important twaddle! (I'm aware that she has many fans, and who knows maybe I'd respond differently to other of her stuff but the few pieces I read here were mindblowingly awful.)

LeahBergen That cover is fugly. 😬 7y
ReadingEnvy I haven't read this one but I adore her. 😳 7y
ReadingEnvy The political ones aren't as much my speed but I have my eye on 7y
shawnmooney @ReadingEnvy Great! I doubt I will ever pick up another book of hers in my entire life, that's how much I hated this one! :-) 7y

Short but sweet, and contains perhaps the best example of mansplaining ever. A great intro to #feminism. Enjoyable on #audiobook too. #feministessays #feministbooks #essaycollections #essaysbywomen

(Same title, different book not on Litsy) Great intersectional feminist essay collection. Although slightly heavy on Scottish writers and punk music, this offers diverse stories, all of which were well written and some of which were really moving. #nastywomen #feminism #feministbooks #essaycollections #essaysbywomem

Saw this cool book map on FB. https://matadornetwork.com/read/book-map-world-will-open-literary-horizons/

Might have to add some to the TBR pile.

Reading this one in bits and pieces whenever I'm home because Mark, a former (and beloved) professor, signed my copy and I want to keep it absolutely pristine. And the contrarian in me is so excited to dive into essays against stuff! #catsoflitsy #essaycollections
