I like this image because it provides a veritable cascade of ghoulish words! And there is NEVER a wrong time for the macabre—NEVER! Actually, it is quite de rigueur to celebrate our more ethereal friends at Christmas—quite a number of classical authors produced Christmas ghost stories! It was a Victorian tradition. 🎄🎅🎁👻

Kind of a hard book to read but somewhat interesting too. I have been much into the history of English for a while now and hope to read more. Skimmed some of the end part.

lil1inblue I heard facebook was a synonym for enshittification. 😂 2mo
Amiable @lil1inblue I think this word was invented specifically for Facebook! Well, and also Twitter. Or whatever the South African Nazi calls it now. 😖 2mo

Apparently this is the longest word for “pretty” or “beautiful.” That‘s a whole lotta syllables 😂🤪 #weirdwordwednesday #weirdwords

Amiable Oh, I‘ve loved this word since I first heard it. This and “mellifluous.” They both sound so lovely. 🥰 2mo
CBee @Cuilin oh goodness - Caillou 😂 I must admit I found that series so annoying 🫣😂 2mo
CBee @Amiable yesss, I love mellifluous too! 2mo
dabbe When you say this one out loud, it does NOT sound beautiful; it's sounds like someone's willed with something putrid! 😂 Fab word. 😍 2mo
Cuilin @CBee oh it‘s shockingly bad. He was so whiny. 2mo
willaful @Cuilin I learned it from Woody Harrelson singing on SNL. “Pretty lady, foxy lady, attractive lady, pulchritudinous lady...“ 2mo

I took this picture in the Wigan North Western railway station when I was visiting last week! There was a whole alphabet of phrases, and I wish I had had the time to take pictures of all of them!
