Again, this very often read more as a middle-grade (or even younger, if not for the fact that it could sometimes be frightening for small children) novelization than YA, but overall, it's still a pick, because Rudnick's gift for description is considerable, and the reimagining of Maleficent is brilliant. Sometimes, you just need to pick up something that'll only take about twenty minutes* to read. Especially when it's a Disney villainess origins story.

*dramatic exaggeration because it's not even 7:00am yet.
