There was a total eclipse last night with a blood moon. I couldn‘t see it from where I am but found this gorgeous picture on the internet. The Eiffel Tower is a bit more picturesque than where I am anyway 😆.

Cait chaperones Jamie and Alice Arrol to Paris in 1886 so Jamie can apprentice with Émile Nouguier and Gustave Eiffel while they build the tower. Alice is hoping to find a husband, perhaps Mr. Nouguier.
I liked this one enough to keep reading, but it definitely wasn't a book I couldn't put down.

Here‘s the thing. If Amie K Runyan is writing it I‘m reading it. This one did not disappoint!

This is a fascinating novel about the life of Claire Eiffel, whose father built the Eiffel Tower. Losing her mom when she was only 14, she became her father's assistant and (with the help of nannies and cooks, etc.) took on the responsibilities of their home and her 4 younger siblings. Using historical documents, the author imagined the rest and created a wonderful story. I really enjoyed it. Thank you to Edelweiss+ for the digital ARC. 4/5

This takes place during the 1889 Paris Exposition. The protagonist is a bookseller/amateur detective. I stopped halfway through when he spies on a woman he‘s become obsessed with and sees her hugging and laughing with another man. He declares she‘s a whore then a few pages later purchases a nude painting she posed for. I nearly threw the book across the room! Hard to believe written by two women; something was definitely lost in translation.

Love when I get my #LMPBC books back and can read all of the notes. Thanks for a great round!

I finished my last #lmpbc book for this round a few days ago. I‘ll get it in the mail early next week when I get back from my honeymoon. I liked this one but it took awhile to get going and I didn‘t like many of the characters. I did end up wanting to know #whodunit though and I did not figure it out before the end. @Jerdencon @robinb @Bookwormjillk
