Loved this! It's set in San Francisco at the time of the 1906 earthquake.
This is my favorite book of Quinn's that I've read (haven't read them all yet) and the first of Chang's that I've read (will be reading more).

This is a haunting recollection of the earthquake that shook Haiti in 2010. Each chapter tells the story of someone affected by the tragedy; lives and relationships intertwined in one way or another. Almost 300,000 people lost their lives and 1.5 million were left homeless.
This is an important piece of literature and I‘m glad it was chosen as our One Maryland One Book this year, though it was heartbreaking and tough to get through.
My afternoon reading buddy.
Whew, if you read this prepare to be emotional. This is a heartwrenching novel about the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. Chancy gives us a very intimate and devastating look at how people were affected in the moments and in the day, weeks, months after the evnts and the ways that try to recover and heal.
This was one of my #auldlangsspine24 books from @DebinHawaii and I am so glad as I would like to read more from this author. Great, rich historical fiction. This follows Mercy a smart young girl from San Francisco‘s Chinatown in the weeks prior to & then immediately after the earthquake. Mercy is brave & funny as she navigates her way into an elite girls school ready to take on the world before circumstances remind her of what truly matters.

Fifteen year old Mercy Wong just wants to get a good education so she can help get her family out of poverty. After she gets herself admitted to an exclusive girls school, though, she finds it difficult to be accepted. Then the 1906 San Francisco earthquake hits and through tragedy she learns she has friends who love her.
Couldn‘t put it down! Kate Quinn is the master of fast-paced historical fiction with badass women, and this co-authored book with Janie Chang is no exception!!
