I listened to the audio and it‘s another where I sometimes lost interest. But the portions I paid attention to were interesting. Of course, in the 1960s, the hiking gear was not as advanced, nor was communication, so it was harder to know if there was really something wrong if you didn‘t hear from someone via radio when you were supposed to. This book has made me interested to look up some of the other books on the same mountaineering disaster.

Susan May Warren's books have a way of burrowing deep into your heart and soul and this first book in the new Global Search and Rescue series is another great example of her writing. Brimming with intensity and adrenaline of ice climbing, simmering romance, fear and anger with the past, and gentle voice of God's love, this story will have you holding on to the edge of your seat while crying with the characters' pain and joy.

The Way of the Brave | Susan May Warren

* Interesting, well-developed characters. The shining star of this story was Hamilton Jones. Ham shares his faith naturally when his friends need it most. He impressed me in every scene!

* The early chapters with overwhelming details about Denali & mountain climbing weren‘t my thing, this book picked up speed halfway through.

* Disappointing amount of sensual content. If it weren‘t for that, this would get a solid recommendation from me.

Both of these upcoming releases have a little romance, suspense, and adventure! The Way of the Brave is all about a rescue team, and Collateral Damage deals with former military members. Which kind sounds more to your liking? 🤔

The aloneness of Alaska allowed him to breathe, despite the stinging cold in his lungs. Allowed him to scream without anyone knowing."

Finished this on my long drive to London and back plus a week of tube rides.

First off - how awesome is the Libby app!

Second - I started off really not enjoying this book but by the end of it I was totally into it. Narrated by the author - to begin with he seemed like such an arrogant twerp and then I realised he was just being honest about who he was as a young man. What followed was a brilliant and honest account of a life of climbing.
