Hi #LitsyCrafters

We're 3/4 of the way through 2024! What have you been working on lately? Is there anything you'd like to accomplish before the end of the year?

I've been making some friendship bracelets and doing my regular journaling. I'm planning to do some holiday crafting in these last couple months.

CatLass007 It‘s been so hot this summer that I haven‘t felt up to doing much of anything. Also, I‘ve been experiencing pain in my left wrist and forearm that has made crochet or embroidery an impossible challenge. Friday, 9/6 I had surgery (it has a fancy name but I don‘t remember it) in which the orthopaedic surgeon did a nerve release. Surgery went well and I‘m not experiencing postoperative pain the way I thought I would. It hurts but (cont)⬇️ 2mo
CatLass007 no more than it did before the surgery, maybe a little less. I‘m not supposed to do anything with my left hand except wiggle my fingers. It‘s really hard to do nothing. I keep forgetting and I use my left hand by mistake. At least I‘m not left handed. Looking forward to playing with 🧵 and 🧶 again soon. 2mo
CatLass007 @Catsandbooks I love your profile pic! Too cute for words. Where did you find it? 2mo
kelli7990 I recently crocheted some tassels for some bookmarks I made a long time ago. I was thinking that I might make some more bookmarks. I have some crochet thread that used to belong to my grandma until she passed away in 2021 and the thread is really great to use for bookmark tassels. I have her crochet hooks too. 2mo
Catsandbooks @CatLass007 oh no! I'm glad everything went well with your surgery and you're on the road to recovery! It has to be so hard not to be able to use your hand, but like you said good thing you're not left handed. Do you have to do rehab? And thank you, I actually made my profile Pic myself! 2mo
julesG I am on my third sweater this year. I've knitted sweaters before but never for myself. After the current sweater I want to make a cardigan and try to work on an intarsia scarf I started ages ago. 2mo
Catsandbooks @kelli7990 that's wonderful! And a great way to continue your grandma's legacy! ❤️ 2mo
Catsandbooks @julesG that's amazing! Sweaters seem so daunting so that's impressive that you've made multiple! 2mo
CatLass007 @kelli7990 Making bookmark tassels sounds like fun.!And a small project is good so that you can take it anywhere. Treasure those crochet hooks, your grandma obviously passed on her love of crochet to you. 2mo
thebacklistbook I've been working on a scarf and a tree skirt since last winter. I tend to forget about yarnwork when the weather heats up! 😅 2mo
CatLass007 @Catsandbooks I have my surgery follow up on 9/20. He‘ll remove my stitches then and should release me to drive. I can‘t believe you made your profile pic yourself. That‘s very crafty of you. 2mo
CatLass007 @julesG That‘s great! Are all the sweaters for you? I hope so. We need to spoil ourselves sometimes. 2mo
CatLass007 @thebacklistbook I feel the same way about yarnwork when the temperature climbs. I think I‘m kind of the reverse of a bear. Bears hibernate when it‘s cold and I turn into a sloth when it‘s hot. 2mo
julesG @CatLass007 yes, all for me. It's time to use up all the yummy yarn I hoarded and make something for myself, other than scarves and shawls 2mo
Meshell1313 I ordered these paint gem Christmas scenes and are turning them into holiday cards but man it‘s a lot of dots! 😂 I‘m hoping to finish in time for the holidays. 2mo
Chrissyreadit @CatLass007 Hope your recovery continues to go well! and you can get back to your fibers soon! 2mo
Chrissyreadit @julesG That sounds amazing! and good for you! 2mo
Chrissyreadit I just bought yarn to crochet some simple throw blankets for my living room and hopefully an opportunity to learn and practice new stitches- but possibly just do what‘s familiar and listen to audiobooks. I‘m also trying to figure out how to print pdfs i bought to use as cards. then possibly alter the cards with glitter and stuff. so far i can hit print 🤣 2mo
vlwelser I've been cross stitching like a maniac. So my epic project should be done in the next 10 years or so. 😂 I will try to remember to take an updated photo and post sometime this week. 2mo
TheBookHippie I‘ve been collage journaling and helping my friend with her quilting squares which I have zero talent in but I‘m a good helper motivator 😂😅. I‘ve got blankets done for my nieces and nephews and need to work on what I‘m doing for my family this holiday season. 2mo
mcctrish Well I‘ve rearranged my craft zone again (2nd time this year) and I‘m doing another purge of accumulated crap AND I joined a 2 week on line sketch boot camp to get me back in the zone. Apparently all the cool kids in the camp make their own sketchbooks so I may try my hand at that - I have to get some materials, clear off my table and watch a video 2mo
CatLass007 @julesG Terrific! 2mo
CatLass007 @Chrissyreadit Thank you! Yarn is a good place to start. I‘ve learned that I can‘t just buy yarn because it‘s soft and gorgeous. I have to have the pattern already picked out. My friend who is staying with me now just looks at yarn and imagines several different things she could do with it and buys it. I‘ve seen pdfs for sale on Etsy and never have figured out how to use them, so I don‘t spend the money. Good luck with getting past hitting print. 2mo
CatLass007 @vlwelser When I learned to cross stitch a few years ago I went a little mad buying books and kits. I was in the middle of a gift for my best friend/love of my life/bane of my existence when he passed away of ALS in 2020. I kind of stalled out. 2mo
CatLass007 @mcctrish Making your own sketchbook sounds pretty cool! Have fun with it. 2mo
CatLass007 @TheBookHippie So when you say you‘re helping your friend with her quilting squares, are you doing any stitching or helping her choose colors and arranging them? I‘m terrible at journaling of any kind. I‘ve tried written journals more than once but I always run out of steam. My friend who‘s staying with me collage journals and for a while I was cutting out pictures and quotes, which was quite fun, but I never got past that stage. I gave (cont)⬇️ 2mo
CatLass007 her all my clippings, some of which she kept. She‘s having trouble focusing because of whatever is going on with her health that the doctors haven‘t figured out yet. She‘s knitting and crocheting at less than half her usual speed and downloading the Audible app to her new phone is too much of a chore. We have listened to some audiobooks together but so many things seem like insurmountable obstacles right now. 2mo
TheSpineView I was doing some painting earlier in the year. When spring got here, I got involved with outside stuff and have not been painting. I'll get back to it when the weather gets bad. 2mo
peanutnine I haven't had a ton of craft motivation lately. I did finish embroidering a quote on a frame finally, I'll have to post a pic. I have a few small crafts related to the wedding coming up that I need to do. A deadline sometimes motivates me and sometimes stresses me out so we will see 😅 2mo
CrowCAH Hopeful to start a paint with diamonds Baby Grogu image. And finish a prayer shawl for the ministry I‘m with, so I can donate it. 2mo
MaleficentBookDragon I really want to make some Halloween amigurumi critters for my Halloween swaps. I‘m also trying to finish a test knit I‘m having trouble with. 2mo
LiseWorks Oh dear, I have been doing lots of crafts. I just keep forgetting to post them. 2mo
Lindy I have just returned from a weeklong fibre arts retreat where our main focus was a 3-day workshop “The Poetics of Landscape” with textile artist Bettina Matzkuhn. I finished a hat I had been knitting, did an eco print on felt and learned tablet weaving too. Matzkuhn contributed to this anthology: (edited) 2mo
Catsandbooks @thebacklistbook that's great! 2mo
Catsandbooks @Meshell1313 that sounds fun! Good luck! 2mo
Catsandbooks @Chrissyreadit ha I love it! Good luck with the cards! 2mo
Catsandbooks @vlwelser 😂 it is a project of epic proportions! 2mo
Catsandbooks @TheBookHippie that's wonderful! I bet your friend appreciates it too! Good luck with the holiday gifts! 2mo
Catsandbooks @mcctrish ooo sounds like fun! And I always feel better after cleaning my space 2mo
Catsandbooks @TheSpineView you gotta enjoy the nice weather while you have it right? Lol 2mo
Catsandbooks @peanutnine ah yes the stressful motivation! 😅 good luck! 2mo
Catsandbooks @CrowCAH sounds great, have fun! 2mo
vlwelser @Catsandbooks I am far too stubborn to admit defeat and set it aside. But I am sad occasionally when I want a new project. 2mo
Catsandbooks @MaleficentBookDragon that's fun! Good luck with the test knit! 2mo
Catsandbooks @LiseWorks haha totally understand! 2mo
Catsandbooks @Lindy wow that sounds like so much fun! 2mo
bookandbedandtea I just finished painting some Christmas gift tags for my family members that they can use as ornaments too 2mo
julieclair I have been enjoying diamond art and collage journaling lately. But I have several unfinished cross stitch projects that I need to get back to, plus a plastic canvas Christmas village. 2mo
Catsandbooks @vlwelser you could still do other projects in between while working on your master project lol 2mo
Catsandbooks @bookandbedandtea that's a great idea! 2mo
Catsandbooks @julieclair that's great! And I always have unfinished projects too 😅 2mo
julieclair @Catsandbooks That‘s reassuring! 😘 2mo
Larkken Ooo this reminded me to get yarn for the stuffed animal I make each year for my daughter! And I found a diamond painting kit that sounds fun to try… cheers! 2mo
Catsandbooks @Larkken aw what a sweet tradition! Have fun! 2mo
SusanLee I‘ve been crocheting and now picking up my unfinished cross-stitch 😅 2mo
Catsandbooks @SusanLee that's great! ☺️ 2mo
Kenyazero I‘ve been occasionally working on a mini pocket library and a mini zine for a zine festival in my area. 2mo
Catsandbooks @Kenyazero oh that sounds so fun! 2mo

3.5/5⭐ Despite the title saying “Beyond Fashion,“ the vast majority of the ideas are for shirts, bottoms, and fashion accessories. While I question the longevity of some projects like the dog leash and the oven mitt that doesn't use heat-resistant material, the ideas are great and varied. It's fun to flip through this book and look for easy ways to freshen up your wardrobe.

4/5⭐ The transformations included are mostly for shirt variations and other types of clothing. The ideas are great, though every single model is super thin. The easy-to-follow instructions make getting creative with t-shirts approachable. There are lots of little tidbits about t-shirts in history and pop culture.
