Saturday morning means time to try a new recipe for a late and leisurely breakfast. I don‘t own a waffle iron, but I easily adjusted the recipe to bake waffle sticks instead. The batter includes blended dates, and then the waffles are served with a delicious toffee sauce.

Not sure where I heard about this one - I thought it was on here, but don't see any posts about it 🤷‍♀️. Anyway, it's a good lunch/break choice. Relatively entertaining, easy to dip and out of, not so compelling that I have to tote it around to keep reading.

There's a little bit of Coastal-Media-Type-Road-Trips-to-Find-the-Real-America 🙄, but not the worst offender I've ever come across. And it's balanced with lots of pie recipes!

Many of the recipes sound and look delicious! The author includes personal notes for each recipe, which I really enjoy. This is the first recipe I tried (#mtcookbook success!), but I have it on display, tempting me to try others!

This is the Brown Sugar Almond Pound Cake that I served at Mother‘s Day brunch with macerated berries and whipped yogurt.

mabell Side note - I think I‘m going to try to find a new bundt pan, as mine is dark “non-stick”, and the long baking time for pound cakes really browns the crust 4d

thebacklistbook @jessinikkip tomatoes are the easiest thing to grow. They typically need 6 to 8 hours sunlight full sun to dappled is good. Starting from a mature plant is probably easiest for a first time. Small tomatoes are usually indeterminate though so you will need a tall trellis or cage to support them or do them from a hanging basket. Check the label on the plant. If they are determinate they just need a pot and maybe a stake. 4d
thebacklistbook @jessinikkip personally I recommend getting a fruit and veggies blend for soil. And a shaker of fruit and veggie feed. Helps improve yield. 4d

It is entirely possible that I will umami myself to death.
Puréed the preserved lemons I made (from the Meyer lemons that grew on my tiny tree) to make preserved lemon paste.
Paired with Kerrygold Dubliners cheese on a pretzel cracker, it is divine.

Aimeesue @Beatlefan129 It‘s fabulous! I love both lemons and salt, so it seemed like a no-brainer. I did have to wait several months for the lemons to ferment though, so it‘s not exactly quick 😂 1w

AlaMich I made my dad order that from BOTM when I was a teenager, having zero idea what French cooking entailed. Needless to say, I don‘t think I ever made one recipe. 😆 2w

Library borrow.
Many good quick recipes that I copied down
Many recipes with food that is not available here
Many nut and fish ingredients which I can‘t do for my whole family due to allergies.
It is laid out very nicely and it is simple.
So not buying but may borrow again #mtcookbook
