I was driving in the countryside yesterday, listening to Wicked and came across a tin man mailbox!!
What a #coinkydink !
I‘m re-listening to this since the movie is coming out soon.
I read the book years ago and really did not enjoy it. It‘s still not my favorite book, but I‘m enjoying it a little better this time.
I have never seen the musical, which must have its own life, with such great music. It will be fun to see the movie adaptation.

Suet624 The musical was good. That mailbox is fantastic! 2w
tpixie @Suet624 I hope the movie is as well. I would think it would be more like the musical than the book. It really is a fun mailbox. I‘m from Kansas, so that might be why they have a tin man mailbox. 2w
Suet624 @tpixie it‘s even better knowing the mailbox is in Kansas! 2w

Lesliereadsalot The musical is amazing! Just saw it for the second time and it has held up over so many years. The show stopper at the end of the first half is really something. 2w
tpixie @Lesliereadsalot that‘s fun that you got to see a once in a lifetime event twice! 2w

I could quote something on every page. This book is my jam! Let me set the connection, the coinky-dink: I‘ve just started A View of the Harbour by Elizabeth Taylor and a character is 20 yo, right after WWII, sitting in an upstairs room looking out the window at the town streets and then this book has this quote:
“Young Christine… Climbs up to the attic room where she has done so much reading and looks out the window.”

BkClubCare Hey @xicanti - this essay has many references to “Gabrielle Roy” (#TIL abt GR) 3y
xicanti @BkClubCare she was from here! I haven‘t read her yet, though. 3y
BkClubCare @xicanti - sounds like a buddy read of Bonheur d‘Occasion (The Tin Flute for this anglophone) 3y
BkClubCare @xicanti “Could we ever know each other in the slightest without the arts?” 3y

Happy 💕 Valentines 💝 Day❣️
“His diseased mind had twisted our words, revised the history of our love. How dare he! My voice quavered with fury as I said, “Did you?”

I really enjoyed this slippery wild tale of grief and inventive experience of dealing with trauma.

BkClubCare And… I don‘t understand nothin‘ of what the ending might suggest. 3y
thebluestocking Totally a weird little book. With some lovely gems. 💙 3y

On a road trip, trying to read and listen. Strikes me that this book shares some #coinkydink with Benny losing his dad then having a super imagination and with The Kid in Hell of a Book. Similar themes, maybe? Not sure yet. Could just be overlap. #tob2022
I think this might be the longest in length of the shortlist.

Ruthiella I was able to find a copy of every book but one from my two library systems. Now I just need to remind myself that I don‘t have to read them all this month! The struggle is real! 😝 3y

I just finished Becoming Mrs Lewis and plan to read
The Chronicles of Narnia in preparation to reading
Once Upon A Wardrobe.
While reading THIS book, I found a phrase that reminds me of Narnia, Susan,& Lucy!
Fun how line brings fun connections!

While finishing up The Children of the New Forest for #ChildrensClassicRead2021 I decided to continue my reading of books about #Doors
@Mommamanzi told me about her childhood favorite book The Door in the Wall
What a #coinkydink they are both set during the English Civil Wars! 📚 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🚪

batsy I loved The Door in the Wall! 3y
tpixie @batsy It‘s fun remembering childhood favorites! 🥰 I‘m enjoying it also! 3y
TheBookHippie Oh how wonderful!!! I‘ve not read the door in the wall in awhile! It‘s still required reading here in the lower grades. 3y
tpixie @TheBookHippie wow! That‘s great! It‘s a cute tale of perseverance & that even kids can be heroes 🦸‍♂️ There were fun references about Doors 🚪 throughout the book. (edited) 3y

Pickpick

I loved We Ride Upon Sticks - perfect book to distract from current events. Lots of laughs for me, my favorite kind of humor. I got it. And my only issue besides the narrator not quite my favorite (not bad, just take a drink more, girl) was too long, lots of characters and we hit every social issue there is, it seemed. #KitchenSink. THEN #coinkydink !! Poem in my current collection hits the exact mark. ❤️#SalemWitchTrials #tourism
