Pickpick

This is the second book in The Broken Earth trilogy. It was fantastic. In this book the focus on survival is still the main priority but also the purpose of the obelisks come into play.
My pick for #Booked2019 #cli-fi @Cinfhen @4thhouseontheleft @BarbaraTheBibliophage
Also my first book finished for Round 2 of #BFC #bookfitnesschallenge @wanderinglynn

wanderinglynn Great job! 🙌🏻 this series is on my TBR. 5y
Cinfhen This sounds really good, even though it‘s not my go to genre 5y

The only reason I finished was it was small and I was using for #cli-fi
I don‘t know whether it‘s the translation or just a terrible book. There were about 10 pages of important stuff about climate change and impact on the environment and humans etc (including a bit with penguins). But otherwise......nope.
#booked2019

MicheleinPhilly Don‘t forget the vulvas! 6y
TrishB @MicheleinPhilly vaulting vulvas will never be forgotten 🤢🤢 6y
Cinfhen What???? @MicheleinPhilly @TrishB 😳😳😳 6y
TrishB @Cinfhen I posted a couple of terrible quotes! 6y
Cinfhen I‘ll have a look 6y

We Are Unprepared | Meg Little Reilly

A young couple leaves the pressures of New York City to live a simpler life off the grid in small town Vermont. As Pia and Ash prepare for the coming storm, they must face not only their fears of impending doom but also the conflicts in their relationship. The environmental/global warming issues were addressed but felt like a mere backdrop to a couple‘s dysfunctional relationship. Barely finished this one. ⭐️ #Booked2019 #Booked2019Spring #cli-fi

BarbaraTheBibliophage Sigh. Dysfunctional relationships are hard to do in any kind of original way. 6y
Fridameetslucy Just passed it up on the Strands $5 review copy cart ... 6y
Cinfhen It seems this prompt produced a lot of uneven reads. Most either loved or hated their book choice. I fell into the pan group, too☹️ 6y

It is already mid May and I feel like I am way behind on the Spring reading for #booked2019 ... HELP!!

I already know what I want to read for #cli-fi and #featuresmusician, but I am still completely clueless for #socialmediafocus and #foodbeveragecover. Any input you have is more than welcome!

RealLifeReading And I was considering reading this for social media 6y
Kathrin @RealLifeReading I have tried to read that one a while ago and bailed on it... But I think the problem was, that I first saw the movie and the book wasn't better. 6y

Kathrin @RealLifeReading I keep this one in mind. For July @litsybookclub has Sourdough on the reading list, so technically it wouldn't fit into the Spring reading quarter, but I might pull it ahead and do “double duty“ with it.
😎 😎 😎 😎
(edited) 6y
LiteraryinPA Have you read Sourdough? That was a quirky and fun read. 6y
Kathrin @LiteraryinLititz No, I have not... but I went make to some notes that I made earlier this year and Sourdough was a contender back then as well. 6y
Cinfhen Let me look through and see what others read and I‘ll share back with you!! For Food Or Beverage I read this memoir and LOVED it 6y
Cinfhen I wanted to read this one for SM but I couldn‘t find it overseas 6y
Kathrin @Cinfhen Oh, that one sounds good. I had this a little on the radar, but didn't connect it for the challenge. 6y
Kathrin @Cinfhen I havent' heard about the #metoo and Parkland books... Have to look into them. Thanks for the recommendations!! 6y
Cinfhen I alternated between book and audio for the Gabrielle Union book and both formats were fantastic 6y
tjwill For social media, I read and liked 6y
Kathrin @tjwill Thanks for the recommendation!! 6y
mhillis Last year I read this book with social media 6y
Kathrin @mhillis Thanks... I will look into this one! 🤓 🤓 🤓 6y
WanderingBookaneer @Cinfhen : I read Parkland and didn‘t even consider it for this prompt. If Parkland counts as Social Media Focus, I‘m done with Spring! 6y
Cinfhen Woohoo @WanderingBookaneer Way to go🙌🏻‼️🎉🎉 I‘m just tagging my cohosts so they now who‘s boss 😘😘 @4thhouseontheleft @BarbaraTheBibliophage 6y
Kathrin @WanderingBookaneer 👏👏👏👏👏 6y
alisiakae I‘m currently reading this one for social media focus and like it so far! 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage For food / beverage, I‘d suggest also going back to books you‘ve read already this year. I just realized one I wasn‘t going to count for any challenges had some food on the cover. Which is awesome because I‘m super behind on my challenges! 6y
Kathrin @BarbaraTheBibliophage Yes, I agree... every now and then I find read books that fit challenges. 6y
Kathrin @4thhouseontheleft Do you like it? You are second person recommending it. 6y

Oh man. I think I just picked the wrong book for this prompt for #booked2019. It was so slow! I also felt like it came across as a bit pedantic and needed to be cut down a lot. This was my first experience with “cli-fi”, but I‘m not giving up because there were elements that I found interesting, such as the unique idea of a the city under water and the description, but overall, this was a rough book to get through. #cli-fi

Cinfhen Ha!!! And I‘ve just #UnStacked!!! 6y
keithmalek @Cinfhen It's possible to unstack? How? 6y
keithmalek @Victoriahoperose I didn't like it either. 6y

Victoriahoperose @Cinfhen it could just be me! Maybe it‘s just not my thing. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 6y
Victoriahoperose @keithmalek I‘m glad I‘m not alone! It was just super slow in my opinion 6y
keithmalek @Victoriahoperose Coolest book cover ever though. 6y
Cinfhen @Leftcoastzen recently reviewed this book and she also mentioned how slow & dense this book was...although she liked it enough in the end to give it a pick!! @keithmalek go back to the stack add icon and touch the to read button if you‘ve already stacked it will unstack after you hit done 6y

#Booked2019 alert!! Based on the description, this sounds like it would work for the #cli-fi prompt. And it‘s #ownvoices #dinetah #dystopia. Sounds unique! Plus, it gets lots of Litsy love.

AlaMich Do you have to sign up for those Daily Deal emails? I get other ones from them but not that. 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @AlaMich I think you do have to sign up. 6y
Kamisha I loved this! 6y

Carolyn11215 I got to meet author at reading here in Santa Fe. She‘s amazing! We have signed copy of the book. My honey has read but I haven‘t so definitely gonna do this one for cli-fi prompt. Thanks for the suggestion! Also works for #readingwomenchallenge indigenous author prompt. (edited) 6y
Cinfhen Great suggestion 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Carolyn11215 That‘s so great to know. I‘m def going to listen to this, but I also want to stick to my original choice for this prompt. 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Kamisha So glad to know—thanks!! 6y
