I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!). Feel free to join in!

I enjoyed this short story in Christmas time of 1872 England. In a very religious community, Celia Hooper tries desperately to uncover the truth about a self righteous man, Seth Marlowe. The atmosphere and setting provided a backdrop for the themes of repentance and forgiveness to shine. It reminds us that no one is perfect and that the hardest part is owning our imperfections. There can be no meaningful restitution or resolution otherwise.

4.5⭐️ I don‘t know what else I can say about this wonderful book. I had intended on finishing the book by Christmas Day, but it wasn‘t to be. #2024 #bookreview #bookstagram #fiction #classics #christmasstories #fiction

🌲 Yesterday I started this moody book. It takes place in New York where many people are getting ready for #Christmas.

🪩 I took the opportunity to cover the ugly “Made into a Hallmark movie” fake sticker with a silver disco ball.

I was determined to read at least one Xmas book. This was short and very sweet. Long ago at a book festival in Edinburgh we saw Anne Perry. I hadn‘t read any of her books but wanted to see her because I knew who she really was. As a teenager Along with a friend she had killed the friends mother. They had been living in NZ. They were found guilty. When they came out of prison they were given new names. And left NZ. Some journalist had 👇

Jeg Discovered the two women , their new names and where they were living. The audience was mainly older women. I imagine her books appeal to them. I was fascinated to say the least knowing the story. She seemed to be hiding behind a fringe of long hair. 11mo
CarolynM How interesting! Have you seen the movie about them? (I haven‘t) I‘ve always wondered about her motivation for writing the sort of books she did, given her past. 11mo
Jeg @CarolynM I did see the movie and I think I read a book about them. One weird lady. At the time I saw her she was living in the north of Scotland. I think she ended up living in NY. 11mo
