When I read this part, I became a wee bit teary eyed. It took me by surprise, but attests to the power of this classic tale. Thank you @KVanRead for organizing the #christmascarolbuddyread and encouraging me to read this beloved book! #ididit

KVanRead 👏Bravo! You did it! And so glad you liked it! 7y

"Spirit!" said Scrooge, shuddering from head to foot. "I see, I see. The case of this unhappy man might be my own. My life tends that way, now. Merciful Heaven, what is this!"

“It is a fair, even-handed, noble adjustment of things, that while there is infection in disease and sorrow, there is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good-humour.” Scrooge‘s nephew, Fred, enjoying a good laugh! #christmascarolbuddyread #shepersisted

KVanRead One of my favorite quotes. 7y

DivineDiana @tournevis 😂 Having barely survived the holidays myself, I am certain that she is exhausted! (edited) 7y

Here's my review of A Christmas Carol. I loved it! I loved it so much more than l expected!
And it gave me such respect for Dickens. I learned a few things about him as a man thanks to @KVanRead beautiful posts, discovering quite an awesome human being beyond the author.

I'm so happy l took part in this readalong!

“And it was a very uncommon kind of torch, for once or twice when there were angry words between some dinner-carriers who had jostled each other, he shed a few drops of water on them from it, and their good humour was restored directly. For they said, it was a shame to quarrel upon Christmas Day. And so it was! God love it, so it was!” #christmascarolbuddyread #shepersisted

I got a new #SerialReader badge on ChristmasEve when I finished the #ChristmasCarolBuddyRead 😊 I had no idea Mary Shelley wrote 7 novels. Has anyone read any other than Frankenstein?

Clare-Dragonfly I've read The Last Man. Unfortunately, it's pretty awful. Long, takes forever to get anywhere, and total self-insert fan fiction! OK, mostly it's Percy-and-Byron-insert… 7y
KVanRead @Clare-Dragonfly Good to know! Probably not adding it to the TBR then 😂 (edited) 7y
