I‘m going to continue working my way through the books I picked up at #c2e2 this weekend. Super excited to get an ARC of the tagged book which is due to be released later this month (3/17). Yang never disappoints so I‘m looking forward to diving into his first nonfiction graphic novel.

Geenie What is this!? That‘s what I thought when when u first saw it. Super cool! 😎 🤩 5y

Charlie Jane Anders raved about this book ages ago so when I saw the author was going to be at #c2e2, I made sure to attend his panel (John Scalzi was on the same panel and yes, it was as entertaining as you might expect). After the panel, my husband stood in line to get it signed for me. 😍 I started reading it last night and stayed up way past my bedtime because I could not put it down. I expect tonight will be more of the same!

Hot off the presses...I have the book three weeks early...I heard Rae Carson talk about getting the offer to write the novelization of the movie and what that meant to her and more...I had the opportunity to tell her that my son and I read Star Wars together, that we discuss the books...my chores are done...my son keeps eyeing the book...you better believe of all the books I got at #c2e2 this weekend, I‘m reading this one first!

Last post for #c2e2 2020 and it has to be about comics, right? Had a great time visiting Artist Alley. Love wandering and seeing all the artists. Got to see Skottie Young (and get our usual picture with him), Jenny Frison, Dustin Nguyen, Donny Cates and Rainbow Rowell. Picked up a few prints—Wonder Woman, The Mandalorian (not pictured). Also got a piece of original art—The Child—from Dustin Nguyen (couldn‘t resist!) So. Much. Fun.

Attending the Tor panel at #c2e2 today came with a bonus—an excerpt from Paolini‘s new book along with a magnet. This one is science fiction and out in September.

Geenie Super cool 😎 💗 5y
Tracyantoon Wow! Go you! As soon as they announced that book on Tor‘s website I added it to my TBR. I loved Eragon! 5y

Day 2 at #c2e2 was a quieter book day but still pretty awesome. Attended a Tor panel on science fiction and speculative fiction. Szpara was one of the authors and was, I have to say, very entertaining. Thrilled to get my hands on this book—it‘s been on my radar since Charlie Jane Anders raved about it. (Best of all my husband and son stood in line to get it signed for me while I was waiting with my daughter for the Arrow panel!)

Finally, had a lot of fun at the book club talking Mexican Gothic and came home with some swag—a tote and four books. Have to love any and everything Red Rising. The only book I‘ve read is Uprooted (LOVE IT) and super excited to have another copy. I‘m definitely looking forward to reading the other three.

Of course today wasn‘t just about books. It was also about comics but I‘m going to save those posts for tomorrow and Day Two of #c2e2!

Three weeks early Littens (actual pub. date 3/17)! Del Rey rushed to finish the book in time for #c2e2 & they did—the book was shipped directly from the printer to the Con. Very cool! Had Carson personalize it for my son & I since we‘re reading & talking Star Wars. I‘ve only read two chapters but so far this book is the movie you wished it to be...which is to say, it‘s going a long way to provide context & make sense of things in the movie. Yay!

What a day! #c2e2 was fabulous and full of bookish delights. The morning started with a Dragon Hoops giveaway—and it wasn‘t just the book! The full giveaway included this shoebox and when you opened it the book was inside along with a little basketball and hoop. Very cute. This is Yang‘s first nonfiction graphic novel. He spent a year following a high school basketball team and this is his chronicle of that year. Can‘t wait to read it!

Just 1 more sleep until we drop the kids at school & head to #C2E2! Priority #1 is always seeing Skottie Young. Also excited to see Donny Cates, Jenny Frison, Faith Erin Hicks, & Noelle Stevenson. It‘s not all comics though...lots of authors too—Rainbow Rowell, Rae Carson, Joe Hill, John Scalzi, Sam Sykes, Terry Brooks & more. Super excited to discuss Mexican Gothic as part of the Penguin Random House Book Club. And then panels & people watching!
