I'm looking for a good biography/family history of the Brontës. I did do an internet search, but I'm overwhelmed by all the options! Drop or tag your recommendations below!

so-soI don't really like Greenberg's style... which kinda made this difficult to read. I don't find the lettering super easy to read, either.
There is a lot of vitality to it, it's just... not for me.
pickA fictional take on the real lives of the Brontë sisters (although Branwell features too) from the early tragic death of their mother & older sisters to the dawn of Charlotte's marriage to Arthur Bell Nicholls.
It was an interesting read with some surprisingly strong language in parts. I don't know why but the tragic deaths of these talented women juxtaposed with their writing talents & what more could have been never fails to raise a tear. 4🌟

panVery dense, especially the last third or so. I can‘t say I‘ve read any other metabiographies, as the author describes the genre, so perhaps this is par for the course. I did learn some things, though.
pickIf I was rating just on the merit of the bold, stylized illustrations, this graphic novel would get 5 ⭐️, but I found the approach to the narrative was really lacking.
I would have preferred a more even split between the biographical elements and the imaginary Glass Town. The silliness of the Glass Town characters‘ exploits took away too much from the reality of the Brontës‘ early lives. Maybe because the book‘s aimed at a young audience?

The characters were bizarre and not in a good way. It was unrealistic, confusing, and quite poorly written.
The accidental killing of her ex husbands best friend with a frying pan (told you - bizarre) was just glossed over. WTF?!
I've had a bad run with books recently! 🙄
