I think I‘ll be occupied in the kitchen this year. 😊👏🏾 Doesn‘t take much to make me happy.

thegirlwiththelibrarybag What a glorious shade of red! Wishing you many happy hours in the kitchen ♥️ 1w
Ruthiella For those of us who only make instant ramen noodles…what is it? 😬 1w
Tamra @thegirlwiththelibrarybag 😍 I have a couscoussier in the same shades. 1w

Tamra @Ruthiella I‘m sure Le Creuset either has or is designing something for ramen cooking as well. 😉 This is a bread oven - inverted Dutch oven. Now I can donate an old funky Dutch oven pot I had been keeping for that purpose. (edited) 1w
LeahBergen Ooo, it‘s so pretty!😍 1w
Cathythoughts Very nice 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 1w
Tamra @LeahBergen I have a penchant for jewel tones in most things. 1w
Tamra @Cathythoughts the bread oven was an Xmas present from my husband. Fortunately for him there is an endless number of kitchen related presents he can give. 😆 1w
ncsufoxes Ohh, I‘ll be curious to see how the bread oven works. I saw them on Sur La Table‘s website recently when I was ordering bowls & was intrigued. 1w
Tamra @ncsufoxes I‘ve seen good reviews. 🤞🏾 I‘ll try to remember to post when give it a go! I‘ve had good luck using a regular Dutch oven. 1w

#2025 So far, I‘ve enjoyed every book I‘ve read by Robin Sloan. This book was no exception. Sloan‘s books seem to have happy endings but the type of happy ending is always a surprise. Nothing is ever predictable. Recommended.

There's nothing better than ordering a bread book directly from the King Arthur Baking Company, and it comes with flour on the cover! Luckily, it wiped right off! 😂

Booksblanketsandahotbeverage It‘s been christened 🤣 1mo
willaful It just seems right! 1mo
ncsufoxes King Arthur opened a pop up shop not too far from us (in Fairfax, VA). They are there until the end of January. I can‘t wait to see what they have. (edited) 1mo

dabbe @ncsufoxes It's my husband's favorite online place to shop. You've been warned! 🤩😂🤩 1mo
willaful @ncsufoxes Oh, how exciting! 1mo
bookandbedandtea I love KABC! The cookie cookbook I ordered from them last year arrived sans flour. 😆 1mo
dabbe @bookandbedandtea I thought for a second that maybe instead of styrofoam peanuts they chose to pack their items in flour! 😂 1mo
Tamra I am thinking about getting this one with an Xmas gift card! What do you think of it so far? 3w
dabbe @Tamra My husband is the bread maker in the family, and he loves it ... flour and all! 🤩😂🤗 3w

Fry Bread: A Native American Family Story | Juana Martinez-Neal (Illustrator) Kevin Noble Maillard
Pickpick

This book serves as a great symbol of what different families and cultures are made of! The illustrations are great. It is a burning story about food, love, culture, and family!

As mentioned in our latest episode, here is the sourdough loaf I just baked! Looks good but it was hard as a rock after an hour. Probably something to do with proofing at altitude. Let me know if you have any tips or tricks.

thebacklistbook Increase the sugar used to proof. Or adjust your baking time and temperature. The lower the temp typically keeps a loaf softer. Failing that switch to using bread machine yeast and a mixer revolving with dough hook on lowest speed for 20 minutes instead of kneading. And doing the rise in a warmed environment can help too. 3mo
Therewillbebooks @thebacklistbook Thank you so much! I'll try adjusting the temp. on my next loaf and go from there. 3mo

There‘s been plenty of preserving and a decent amount of baking in my home recently, but I haven‘t been making any new cookbook recipes. So, today I‘m sharing this year‘s final batch of candied jalapeños, a few jars of tomato sauce, and these cinnamon rolls even if they are online recipes. Since the sourdough cinnamon rolls are from the Clever Carrot blog, I‘m tagging Emilie Raffa‘s cookbook.

Tamra Oh, I wish I could “borrow” some of those jars. 3mo
Daisey @kspenmoll @Tamra Thanks! It‘s been a long time since I made such a perfect batch of cinnamon rolls, and my pantry is now stocked with canned goods for this winter. 3mo

Exploring fry bread through this story makes a connection between a cultural symbol and Native American families. This can be used in a classroom to learn about cultures and the importance of embracing our differences.

I tried the recipe on the back of the bag from King Arthur Baking Company‘s ‘cinnamon sweet bits‘: a cinnamon bread. It‘s yeasted and the recipe is written for a white bread, but I turned it into a wheat bread and of course, cut down on the sugar. The cinnamon bits are really good. Also, I love these silicone baking mats! I didn‘t know that they had the logo on them as well.
