When I'm not in the mood for serious books I always reach for #cosymystery #culinarymystery. This story is happening in a bakery/shop The Cookie Jar with a lots of goodies (cookies and muffins), during preparation for Winter Carnival. It's easy, painless book to read, not best in the world, but it fulfills its purpose - to have a good time! Extra bouns - recipes.

#12daysofxmasphoto #cookies

Bookish_Predator That's what I always do too! #cosymysteries are fun, quick and easy to read and my go to when I need a break from all the others ☺ 8y
Cortg I had a patron come into the library one day looking for a particular recipe from this author in one of her books, but she couldn't remember which book it was! We eventually found it, but I always think of that day when I see her books 😆 8y
jpmcwisemorgan I like this series! 8y

MaleficentBookDragon I love #cozies when I want something fun. Yes, there's a murder, but that's almost beside the point. I've loved amateur sleuths since Nancy Drew and Trixie Beldon in my childhood. ❤️️📚❤️️📚❤️️📚 8y
ferskner I listen to these on road trips. They are perfect for driving (except then I have to stop to buy cookies)! 8y
Simona @Cortg A lot of books😬 ...to find a particular recipe! 8y
Simona @ferskner I always have a package of cookies beside me, while reading hers books. 😋 8y
Simona @Bookish_Predator I "discovered" them this August while reading for #bookisholympics and I was looking for quick and easy stories and since then this is my third book. 8y
Simona @jpmcwisemorgan Me too👍😋 8y
Simona @MaleficentTheBookDragon I've never read these books and I don't know nothing about Nancy or Trixie😳 8y
Millesent And Joanna Fluke mysteries are on the Hallmark Channel and they are a great #Cozy watch It is the murder she baked series 6y

For the duration of the #BookishOlympics I needed fast and easy reading. That's how I discovered the sub-genre #CulinaryMystery and just reading the titles - I'm drooling.

#septphotochallenge #somethingforsept #BooksThatMadeMeHungry

ReadingOver50 I have read most of those. They are great. 8y
readinginthedark Culinary mysteries are so fun! I read one a while back about a donut shop and craved donuts for days! 8y
Simona @ReadingOver50 I read only one so far and it was fun. 8y

Simona @readinginthedark And now I want donuts 😋 8y
readinginthedark @Simona I make no apologies. Donuts are always in good taste. 😉 8y
Simona @readinginthedark Especially with cinnamon and sugar 🍩😋 8y
queerbookreader Check out the Coffeehouse Mystery series, it's my favorite 😋 8y
Simona @lemonlime799 I will, thanks. 8y
SaraFair I love the Joanne Fluke series! I am only on #4 but really like the characters. If you are in the US, check out the "Murder She Baked" movies that are based on them. They are on Hallmark Mystery channel. I have since grabbed cozy mysteries on cheeses and dog shows-lol. 8y
Simona @SaraFair I'm not from the US, so I will have to read😃 8y

I've been binge-watching Catfish on Hulu since reading Schulman's book for the #BookishOlympics. Confession - I'm kind of embarrassed by how much I tear up while watching the show 😳

I liked this book more than I expected to. He writes about his catfish experience, making the show, his personal life and the changes he's made to be a better person. He also provides tips/advice for online relationships. I enjoyed reading Nev's personal reflections.

Roselyn_Reads So cool! I didn't know he had a book out. I watch Catfish all the time. (I also tear up a lot) 8y
Megabooks I binge watched the first 2.5 seasons awhile back. I'll have to check out the book. Thanks! 8y
[DELETED] 3803335244 Sometimes I can't fathom how people don't know. I mean come on, Katy Perry? Really? And the fact that they invest so much into a person for years they have never met. I love the show. I can understand some being fooled but others in like what? Do you think some fake it just to get on the show? 8y

BekahB @AustenNerd16 there's actually 1 episode where the couple intentionally acts like its a catfish situation so they can get a plane ticket to see each other. I think some of them have a clue but they really don't want to believe it and then some are completely caught by surprise. In the book Nev talks about how he should have seen the red flags in his own situation but he just didn't want to believe it. It's pretty amazing what people will ignore. 8y
[DELETED] 3803335244 Oh, I need to watch that one! I agree, I think people ignore way to much in life. 8y
shanebeth This show is my biggest guilty pleasure. 🐱🐟 8y
RadicalReader @BekahB I love watching catfish loved the one of Derek who was exactly who he says he was and the girl couldn‘t believe it “ I am in Derek‘s driveway!” 7y

I started this last month and I put it down to read books in full for the #bookisholympics. Now I'm really not interested in picking it back up. I was really into it when I started it but now it's lost it's pull. In order to convince myself to finish it I'm not allowed to read the two books I just picked up from the library until it's finished. One is on Book Riot's 25 YA Paperbacks to Read This Fall list so I hope it's good!

These were my favorite reads in August. I read all three for the #bookisholympics. I listened to most of Shrill on audiobook and absolutely loved it!

Inspired by @Riveted_Reader_Melissa I'll post my current reading challenge because most likely thanks to Litsy I'm now ahead! 🤓

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Whoo hoo🎉. Good for you and Thanks to Litsy! 8y
ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled How does it calculate the schedule? It tells me Im ahead, but I feel like Im behind! 8y
WanderingBookaneer I already achieved mine thanks to Litsy events like #24in48 and the #bookisholympics 8y
MMenefee Way to go!! 8y
tricours @ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled.com I think it just divides 365 by the number of books you set, and then gives you x days per book! 8y

I did it! I wanted to make progress on all my series this month, & I did - the latest Frieda Klein, the second Deanna Madden, & alllllll the Tess Monaghans I hadn't yet read (8!). With the help of the #bookisholympics, I buckled down & got so much reading done this month. Whoo hoo!!! On to the next one... er, 4 ...

megt Well done! 8y
Eyelit 👏📚💙 8y
[DELETED] 2232195534 I'm always happy to be catching up on a series, but then the wait...😂 8y

I LOVED this novel. It managed to capture so much history in 2 families and 1 novel. I was exposed to American history that I didn't always know the specifics of, as well as given an introduction to African colonial history. Heartbreaking and difficult to read at times, it should be required reading for all. I really loved the way it was told, too, with each separate chapter being from the point of view of a new person in a new era. #augustwrapup

Eyelit Nice stats! 👏📚 8y
ReviewsandReadathons @Eyelit thanks!! It helped that #boutofbooks and #bookisholympics were in there. 8y
