IndoorDame I‘m sad that publishers are jumping on this bandwagon too 2y

DogMomIrene @Leftcoastzen Amazon Canada says it‘s temporarily out of stock, so I‘ll have to wait to buy, but I‘m taking the out of stock as a good sign of good reader people buying left and right! 2y
Leftcoastzen @IndoorDame I‘m troubled by the fact they are not flexing their muscles a bit .I was a book sales rep & was very aware some books aren‘t right for some markets , it seemed publishers still supported difficult topics knowing the book would find it‘s audience. 2y
Leftcoastzen @DogMomIrene 👏👍 2y
Rissreads 😡 wtf! This is just wrong and scary! 2y
Aimeesue Is Scholastic a bit different than other publishers, though? They‘re pretty much THE school book sale vendor, so maybe Florida and especially Texas have them worried that they‘ll be tossed out of markets completely? I really have no idea, and I‘m not defending them by any means, just trying to figure out the thought process here. 🤔 2y
dabbe My friend and colleague at the high school I taught at just resigned (she was told to or she'd get fired) for having them (seniors btw) read something that was NOT on the district list! Never had ONE letter in her file for 22 years. ONE mistake = you're gone. Because my school has caused angst to the district before with the book SO YOU'VE BEEN PUBLICLY SHAMED, ironically enough. And they're afraid of the parents. #beyondangryatallofthisbullshit 2y
Leftcoastzen @Aimeesue yes & no . They have a retail presence at regular stores. I just never thought this world would get so ridiculous. I think it gets to be a slippery slope pretty fast , but I see your point. 2y
Leftcoastzen @dabbe that is beyond disgusting ! Is that here in Az? 2y
dabbe @Leftcoastzen Yes. Are you surprised? 😜 2y
BookNAround Did you see their response to the reporting? At least they‘ve acknowledged they were wrong to ask that of her and are now hoping to publish it without changes (the author hasn‘t given an indication if she‘ll allow that or not). 2y
Aimeesue @Leftcoastzen i mean, cowardly and WRONG, obviously, morally speaking, but I wonder how much economics comes into play? That has to be a consideration at some point, a Texas is a huge market, yes? Ugh. 2y
Tamra If my children were still of Scholastic age, I would make it known I would not purchase another book they publish. Put integrity above the bottom line on what would be a handful of books. 2y
